Please don't use a dimmer to control the speed of a vortex. It's dangerous. Use an appropriate speed controller (I'm a huge fan of Variacs - $65 shipped on ebay)
waste of money bro.
ebay, speed controller, $25 shipped

i have 5 of those, they are garbage (albeit the standard). also, if stealth is a priority, they're too loud. However, it's still much safer to use one of those (triac), than a dimmer switch.
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=112531how is it garbage??
If you need a vortex that doesn't hum loudly, then NO, it does NOT get the job done.Does it do exactly what it's supposed to?
$65 shipped. Also, it is not a "pro grower speed controller". It is an AC motor speed controller, which the triac is NOT. The variac is the right tool for the job. This is undisputable (see link).Does spending $80 on a "pro grower speed controller" do anything different? Hell NO!
Glad yours are working for you. I didn't have any go out. Bought 5 at once. Turned around and bought 5 variacs a week later.Mines been working for over a year wonderfully, maybe you've had 5 go out on you? I mean they're garbage yet you bought 5?
