Helicopter over neighborhood...every night?

i am apparently in the inbound flight path of local LifeFlight med rescue choppers here. like others above mention, i aint gonna worry till it starts circling my house. used to flip out when LEO drove by here, hell, i got three living in neighborhood. "keep your friends close, & your enemies closer" :tiphat:

I live over the flight path of my local FLIR chopper and I was reading how they are using up the last of last years finances to ensure they get the full budget they're demanding - something like "use-it, or lose-it" and so the chopper is always in the sky lately at all times. Like someone else on IC said, LEO don't care how much they use, they get what they want off the tax-payer.

as i type this, i can hear one way up high and i've heard it for ~10 minutes...it's circling...

shit frightens me, seriously. i have a big grow op planned in the coming month so i guess this means i need to be super-secure and not fuck up ONCE.

i could be over-reacting, but why not plan for the worse?

even IF it is FLIR, they need a warrant legally...so it's not admissible in court. but they could easily find other ways to get the warrant once they confirm a house is suspicious.

Okay, let's assume the worst - which is what I (try to) do - and it is FLIR

How "bad" is your neighborhood for drugs busts/car chases/etc?

I did a quick search on my local news internet websites to get a handle on the level of crime for my area that had the chopper in attendance and I found out it was a lot, from missing children, to car thieves to surveillance. As I understand it, it is not cost-effective to fly the chopper just for a look-see for heat, but afterwards when the main chase has ended and they are going back to base. Can you see the large can that the FLIR is housed in? and is it pointing at you? Prob. not - if not get some binoculars and have a look behind some window blinds and have a look at where the FLIR is pointing. fwiw i understand it's rarely used during the day but at night when the heat temps are greater difference.

Same thing happens in my neighborhood.

only cure for paranoia is to move to one of the 14 and counting "good" states....

we have a bill for medical in the house/senate, but it's not going anywhere. these assholes hold 1 or 2 hearings on it, and it's practically dead. It was introduced in April of 2009. See what i mean...a fuckin' year for these pricks to get off their ass...well, by the time they do, it'll be 2 years.

well pack up and move, its better than an ulcer

I'm not worried THAT much dude..lol

Plus, financially I am unable to do that right now. Also, because of my...feelings...regarding things...I want to be in close vicinity of my family. I am considering Ohio, though, if our bill falls through. No medical there but it is decrim'd and not too far away...Vermont looks nice though.

a high powered laser will do the trick, just make sure to run outta the way of falling helicopter

LOL all this talk of RPG's and high powered lasers...damn! too bad we're terrorists against freedom according to the US government, pharmaceutical companies and the DEA :)

I'm past this thread cuz I think this is just para -
there is no way any LEO in the world would spend that much money just checking this guys house out,
if they were interested in his house they would've put their size 12s all over his crib by now.
If he doesn't live in a sh!tty area, he is surrounded by them, for sure, and LEO have plenty to be going on with other than him being their sole concern. I'm done! ;-)

If they really want to know whats in your house they will just have one of their local bad guy informants throw a rock through your window or jimmy your door open when you leave and then come inside to look around in response to the burglary call. I used to know guys from college (that used to be potheads) on the task force back in NJ where I lived for many years and they told me this was pretty common practice to get in somewhere they wanted to but had little evidence to get a warrant. Solution? Fortify your doors and get shatterproof storm windows. ;)

The copter is not fuckin with you man, they would FLIR you once and if you lit up like a christmas tree then you would get raided they don't keep doing it over & over & over.

Also, if you are in a tent with reflective sides and the heat is evenly dispersed then you really have nothing to worry about. I have seen FLIR images and there is always a hot room or two in most average sized houses. Some people have a laundry room in their house that gets very hot, others have rooms that are not airconditioned and heat up during the day or are just used for storage. The time of year that FLIR is most effective is also the cooler months when the temperature differences are signifigant from the outside ambient air. The hotter it is then harder it is for the FLIR scans to really be effective. This is why they wait until night to use the FLIR because the heat from the sun really screws up the images. Your roof of your house also heats up during the day from absorbed heat, what is most vulnerable in reality is an exposed window that is just covered with a tarp or something with an HID bulb burning in the room behind it. They can see that glowing white hot bulb right through that window. The solution? After you tarp off of block the window make sure you have some type of IR reflective barrier facing inwards towards the room. Two or three layers of mylar will do the job 100% if you do not have specific IR blocking film. Alot of people think FLIR just looks down but reality is that they look from the side also.

I think the chopper flying past you is just a routine flight path, because it is so common and routine you definitely don't really need to worry about it. ;)

why do you have to look from behind a blind? Granted, I don't have many low fly-bys here, but when I do see them and I can get to binoculars in time, I go out and have a look, same goes for planes. It's not like you are pointing a gun sight at them or a laser, just having a look. Maybe you know something I don't and would care to share it. thanks

Simply to diffuse my body sig from the FLIR - and I also believe that
to go out and stand there in full view with binoculars is only going to generate
questions - there's not many people that go to the lengths to have a look
at a copper chopper - and so for me at least it's best to keep things looking
normal.

They aren't looking for heat or a grow, they would of saw it the first time. You are just under a 'path' for heli's. like roads in the sky so there aren't collisions up there. No worries!
