Still looking for stable and fast old school Afghan or NL...

I have been searching for fast (under 2 months flowering) and stable indica with decent yield from numerous seedbanks. Trust me, I have done my research on this one. If the price and genetics are right, it gets very mixed results in cannabis forums. In 80´s there were lot of good NL´s and Afghans around, but seems like everyone is selling hybrids these days. I really don´t have time or money to look for a "right pheno", there just got to be a good stable indica somewhere out there...

try the Mazar i Shariff, or maybe Afghanica from flying Dutchman. Just a thought. I just got a cutting of the local Mazar, supposed to be ready in 45 days...we'll see. Also, got some Bogglegum growing, Bubblegum X Northern Lights, around 54 with that one;) Hope this helps

Thanks! Bogglegum seems promising, I managed to miss that one somehow. Friends have only good things to say about it. Looks like Gypsy does not have the seeds at the moment, but I might get a local clone of BG or something very close. There are some insane clone only strains here In Finland, like the legendary Yeti, but I have not been able to locate that one yet...

man have you looked up afghan no. 1?

Original afghani # 1 marijuana seeds
Genetics: Afghani No. 1
Variety: Pure Indica
Type: Pure-bred, true-breeding
Harvest Date: Mid-Late September
Flowering Period: 6-7 Weeks
No. of Seeds Per Packet: 10
Characteristics: Dense buds and copious resin.

Afghani No 1 is a traditional landrace strain collected in the mountains of Afghanistan by Sacred Seeds in the 1970s. It was one of the first pure indica true-breeding strains used in worldwide cannabis breeding programmes. It is well known for its dense buds, copious resin production and its excellent properties for hashish production. This strain has been acclimatised to western growing conditions by selectively crossbreeding various Afghani No 1 parents and selecting offspring plants with favourable traits.

The popularity of Afghani No 1 can be seen through its use as a genetic building block in many predominately indica strains created or preserved within the Sensi Seed bank gene pool and other seed companies.

Afghani No 1 is a vigorous growing yet small bushy plant, with a strong stem that is renowned for its strong aroma when flowering. Its classic indica properties and true-breeding nature make it an ideal indica parent plant.

You say "trust me I've done my research on this one"

And then go on to admit you are clueless as to what to choose,
am I the only one seeing the irony in this post?

If you did any type of research then you'd be searching out some Dr Atomic NL or some BCSC NL...

You'd also know that Sensi seed bank Afghani is the best representation of bunk garbage out there....

You'd be doing damn well to wade through a couple packs of nirvana aurora indica ,,,I can't vouch for the recent offerings ,,but if Wang or whatever his name is that runs the show @ Nirvana is still using the same parents that he had for that F1 back in 2004 then it's a steal...

Now You know...

Go for Dr. Atomics Nl, BCSC is gone for good, I managed to get some of their last NL 5 stock but got lost in shipment after I sent them to a friend in trade.

Dr. Atomics is based on NL 5, but I don't believe its pure.

Yes, I am bit clueless, like I said in my first post, "If the price and genetics are right, it gets very mixed results in cannabis forums". There are lot of strains to choose from, but nothing so far seems right. There is this big cannabis forum in Finland and there are lot of very experienced growers who know their stuff and they are the ones I got to belive. Because I have researched this subject a lot, I just have more questions than answers, that´s all.

Some people who've grown Maple Leaf inside or outside think it's been underrated, and I've grown a couple crops and here I am...I haven't grown out my MLIxMLI yet, but the original pack was pretty uniform and so I thought I'd say something.

But it isn't exceptional in any aspect except maybe salt tolerance, and it is perfectly in that growth-rate area where its ending size indoors can be controlled to exactly where you want it with a short or medium or long veg, it can get tall or not. Outdoors this should look and smell a lot like bushy wild hemp, with odd leaves.

Not the Holy Grail but worth checking out, and telling other people hey, check this out.

Try Afghani#1 from Sensis Seeds or their NL. Afghani is very uniform + very good yielder. Grows extremly tall, so dont`t wait too long before switching the lights. NL is also great. Dr. Atomics NL is based on the Sensi NL, so i would prfere the original one;)...

Hey Gracious

Let me agree with and expand on GOjoes input. Ive grown Maple leaf a bunch and its high on my list of nice strainsl. Its a hybrid, but the 2 land race afghanis were taken out of afghanistan before the russians arrived and the 2 are closely related. The plants are really fairly consistent and the high is pure red eyed bliss. It doesnt really have different "pheno's" to speak of, it just that some plants are a little different sometimes. Ive found plants that were sweeter or yielded a little better, but really ive been through several packs and have yet to see a bad plant. Huge, fat leaves.

Another one i really liked was Kc brains afghani but its another hybrid of 2 afghans...

I also like nl5. I know this is hard to believe, but the truth is that peaks is the best ive grown.

Mr Nice just released (NL#5 x Afghan) as well as a true-breeding Afghan Skunk. You may be interested in another Mr Nice "new" release of an old Afghanica type strain - Ortega.

Cannabis seeds are always a lottery.
OK, some reputable brands give you a much better chance to find something good, whereas others maybe less so.

Nevertheless you can still find some diabollically good plants, especially in unstable populations, if you're willing to search a bit. This is absolutely natural. Even in established landraces finding that "gem" is a hit and miss process variety is good, bottlenecked genetics are not necessarily a blessing ;)

If you do not want to search for phenos, as you say, then get something with a "steady" reputation, perhaps something like MNS Shit, or even Nirvana's Aurora Indica that was mentioned. LUI is another possibitlity. There are stacks of worthy genetics out there... just pick one.
