Outdoor Backyard 2010 Starts

K

kannubis

Welcome to lurkers and posters alike. :gday:

I am starting my outdoor thread for 2010 to chronicle hopefully a year's worth of medical cannabis supply. I am authorized to grow 18 mature plants by my doctor's exception to the ab420 guidelines that were set by the AG, and even though they have been found unconstitutional, I will be keeping the number of mature plants at 18 just to be sure to have no LEO problems.

So far, 3 plants are in the ground put into holes filled with an organic mix of native soil, my neighbor's composted horse poop, peat, coco, Kellogg's organic amendment mix from Home DePot, gypsum, dolomite lime, perlite, sand, rooters bacteria, and whatever else the wind blows in. Chicken wire went in the hole first on the one where gophers are known to frequent, hoping the other 2 are gonna be okay without the gopher basket, because I have not seen any holes there for the last 7 years or so.

Nirvana Wonder Woman was the first in the dirt.

followed by a freebie Pineapple Express

and an Indica Mix plant that is either Herijuana, Anesthesia, or Jackberry

Other plants that I plan to put in the dirt are still being acquired/pre-vegged and include White Russian, bagseed-Bubba, Purple Lady, Afghan x NYCD, New Citral City, Original Haze x Skunk #1, Callaway Blue, and some testers called Turloco - a cross of GHS White Rhino x (Bubba x Og) coming from JackTheGrower :)

Watering to date has been with tap that comes out of the hose at 440ppm then run through a 5 gallon bucket filter made of t-shirts, se30 sand, and charcoal before going into the ground. Ppm was lowered to 285ish by the bucket filter. The bag of sand said it may contain free silica, so I probably won't have to supplement silicates. Don't know if the charcoal does anything, but why not?
I will probably break down and spend the $35 for an inline chlorine filter though.

My back porch has a 4'x8' planter filled with slight variations to LCs mix with some earlier starts. It will eventually be culled to hold 6 plants for the long haul starting at solstice, but for now is my source for fan leaves to cook with. They are Purple Lady x Kush(Ceres), 1 LA Woman, and the smaller ones are a mixed bunch of what was in my tent last run x LR1.

By the way, the porch pic is what I see looking out the slider behind my computer.

Hey Bom & laughingmoon, nice to see ya.

Thanks for the well wishes, and hell yeah baby its gonna be fun, at least until the finger and hand cramps start up in late September for a while. Guess I'll just have to figure out some way to deal with the pain :joint:

One more strain that will be going in the ground is (Grape Crush x purple kush '09) x Grape Krush. Some good flavor in there for sure.

5.15 pics & update

diirty, nice to have you over

Its been a week of veg on the outdoor ladies, and there have been some lineup changes too. In the tent pre-vegging are some new strains gifted to me for testing by JackTheGrower. He has some great instructional threads for natural & organic newbies, and probably a thing or two for the vets. Thanks Ernst.

The added strains are:
Turloco #2, a different mother than Turloco #1,
Tiki Jo, a mix pack of goodies - more details later, but check out the dreadlock foxtailing in JackTheGrower's Tiki Jo thread,
and BOGO '09, Kryptonite's Bubba x OGf2 Organic.
4 of each went into rockwool to get em going.

Okay, okay, enough B.S.ing, heres the pics.

Now for the newest addition to my garden. I finally put together a compost bin. No more expensive bagged stuff. Ought to have the first batch ready to put my soil mix together by the second week of June.

That's all I got for this week. Will put up pics of the pre-vegging plants in the tent next week.

Thanks for your interest. Safe grows to you all.

Hey mellow, good to see ya.
Sunday update this week. Been taking advantage of the unseasonal cool weather. Got major composting going, and have the 4th hole dug and planted with another indica mix plant.
picture.php

Been playing with string in the porch planter - up to 6' plants in a 18 inch planter that are less than 5 feet tall. The one bent to the right is Mazar-I-Sharif, the center one is Purple Lady x Kush, the rear left leaner is LA Woman, front left is Purple Lady re-vegged and going for #2. Right rear is Sour 60 with about 3 weeks left, and the far right bent gal is another PLady x Kush.
picture.php

Here is the first indica mix put out - gonna have alot of colors in her, purple showing already.
picture.php

A look at the back fence view. One more will be going in between the indica mixes. The pots are multiple Sour 60 plants in each. Pineapple express on the far right.
picture.php

The Wonder Woman was the first in the dirt, looking wind-beaten and leaf mined, but I'll keep her because she is 1/10 to make it this far. Should have some strong thick stems by the end.
picture.php

Now for a peek at the little ones still in the tent to go out by 6/21 for their spots in the sun. The rear left is the indica mix at beginning of this post. Trying to get the rest filled in before putting them out.
picture.php

Here are the testers from JackTheGrower. 2/4 of Tiki Jo f2, 4/4 Turloco #1, 3/4 Turloco #2, 4/4 BOGO. The stretch is purposely allowed for this grow so they can get tall in the tent before going outside. Ernst told me they stay short with a tight internode and lots of branching when given strong, close enough light, but they don't need to stay compact for my yard. They are going into keg cups shortly for a week or so.
picture.php

Bottom left 3 in separate container are Sour 60 going into cups for a bit too.

Watch out for the beast.
picture.php

Thanks for stopping/looking, and hoping for a good season for us all.

7 more plants went into the 3.5 x 6 spot. White Russian, Callaway Blue, Grape Crush are the strains - not yet sexed, so some will be less than full season plants.

A couple of Purple Lady clones, White Russ, Callaway Blue ^^

The corners got an OHazexSk1 each. Since I have been practicing with tying down in the planter, should be able to get those to run around the whole thing.

Chopped the M-I-S out of the planter because she wasn't responding well to the training - wilty tops after tying = leaf stock for cannabutter.

Here are pics of the Indica Mixes, Pineapple Express,
Wonder Woman ladies. All but the Wonder Woman have been bushing out well in the last week. Wonder Woman got a plucking to see if that would speed things up a bit.

Pineapple Express Flowering

Pineapple Express Flowering

High time to put up some pics of the plants. Thanks for stopping by.
Got a fixed problem to tell and show this week - my Pineapple Express lady progressed beyond pre-flower, and I was not gonna take her out for the cannabutter pile. Well, got to thinking about the threads I've read and bing, light dep popped into mind. Got to looking around the yard for materials, came up with wood for the frame and had a bit of black 6mil and some rolled-up cardboard packing stuff for the first go. Replaced the cardboard with a 9x9 tarp the next day. Here are the progression pics.

Porch Planter - will be getting 4 testers added in 2 weeks
picture.php

The re-vegged Purple Lady, LA Woman, and Sour60 plants got chopped out of the planter. Sour60 was taken early to try the allclear trich effect, the others went into the cannabutter pile. That got cooked yesterday. Should take care of a month or so worth of brownies.

HAve a great week. Stay motivated, do something enjoyable. :blowbubbles:

6/12 update on the yard

6/12 update on the yard

Red, Trich, and King Z, thanks for coming over.
I have seen pics of your ladies room redspaghetti. I got nothing better than you, just outside room to play with.

The nightbox was a monster born out of necessity. If I had thought about it earlier, I might have made a permanent frame with plywood for top and sides. A blackoutable greenhouse will be part of next year's program.

All the plants outside are doing well, some better than others. The newer plants will take a bit to pick up their momentum, and should start putting on some size soon.

Here are pics of the indica mixes.

Transplanted the JackTheGrower testers into 2 gallon pots for a while longer indoors veg time before they start getting hardened off in sunlight and going into the dirt and planter.

Hope everybody is having a great season.

I just sprayed one of the Pineapple Express branches and one of the female Sour 60 plants with a 500 ppm solution of giberellic acid. Three more days of spraying and should start seeing nanners on them in a couple weeks. The pollen will go into the freezer with the regular pollen packets for selective branch pollenation later this season. Should get some femmed seed crosses to try under CFls in the off season for next years outdoor grow.

Anyone with experience doing this, feel free to add input on the strength and duration of spraying with GA3 for reversing sex.

The newest additions to the outdoor grow are the testers from JackTheGrower. Turloco #s 1&2 and BOGOs are planted. Two Tiki Jo plants are left to be planted in close proximity to Fluffy's final resting place for a good vibe effect. Still have one more each of Turloco #1 and BOGO to put in the planter. I decided to set all of them out into the dirt instead of going for the quick harvest with Silverback's 60/60 forced flower method.

I untied the PLKs and torqued them down lower to the planter after the pics were taken, so the tops are less than 5 feet from the ground again.

This is going to be a nice season for me & I wish y'all a great harvest this year too.:jump:
