LED pc question

I was wondering if anyone knows what the minimum amount of LED are need to grow in a pc case. Also what is the best colors to use. I have two 7" red LED 12v brake lights that I have removed the outer red lens covers. Total LED count is 94. I don't know the total wattage or light spectrum but at approx 2.5 feet away from my face one light is blinding bright. If I look at it directly for more than a couple seconds it burns the image into my eyes. I will try to mix the spectrum with some amber lights (turn signal) and some blue if I can find them.

Has anyone tried using automotive LED lighting? If it works it would by a cheap way for the DIY'er to make a bright LED cluster.

i'de say the best thing to do would be too test it out, if it works, it would be awesome!

I just bought a Blue 24 LED light strip used for car underbody lighting. It comes with a weather proof rubber coating that I've cut away with a razor blade. Way brighter now.

I'll post up some pics when I get everything wired up.
