Unemployment benefits End!

I can't get a clear view on what is going on. Is it no more past the 99 weeks or is it "Tough Love you lose?"

Geez-US why just dump a million folks cold?

I mean in what we spend in War and other programs for one month can help the unemployed for a year.

Does anyone have a better idea? I am reading that there is some wrangling going on and there may be some vote next week but the signs are on the wall now!

I want a job Fuckers! Just give me a job is all I ask.

But if there are no jobs then what? Lets spend more on Iraq?

2010 Unemployment Extension and “Tax Extenders Bill” Denies Benefits
June 17th, 2010

2010 Unemployment Extension and ”Tax Extenders Bill” Denies Benefits. Yesterday the Senate did the unthinkable – they denied an extension of unemployment benefits to millions of Americans. The Senate vote on HR 4213 aka the “Tax Extenders Bill” was declined in Senate amid fears that the country is overspending.
Overspending? The US Government? Yes…the government is overspending, but the cutbacks should come from other places such as foreign spending and spending on superfluous programs that don’t benefit the American public in general. We are sure that there are plenty of places where money could have been saved.
Now, instead of millions of people who have exhausted their benefits after 99 weeks, there are even more who do not have benefits now that tiers 1-4 are suspended.
Many are hoping that emergency measures will still be taken, or that the bill will be taken in for a re-vote. Until then, COBRA benefits and unemployment benefits remain suspended.

Americans were given false hope, and now it appears as if HR 4213 will never come in to fruition.

Trying to dig up some more, but it seems as if they're trying to almost bury the story...:chin:

This page seems to be as updated as I can find.

But I am wishing to see a clear sign that I am not homeless.

100617thumbs-down-small.jpgA vote this evening in the Senate to advance the bill that includes an extension of federal unemployment benefits failed on a 56-40 vote.
The Senate this evening rejected the latest version of the bill that includes an extension of federal unemployment benefits. The measure was defeated on a 56-40 vote.

Maine Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, as well as Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska are still opposed to the bill because of its costs and some of its tax and spending provisions.

The bill would add $55 billion to the federal deficit, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Nelson has said he wouldn’t support any plan that adds to the deficit.

"It can’t go forward without Republican votes and clearly we need more if we’re losing Democrats,” said Senator Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat and his party’s chief vote-counter. “We’re just working at it” and looking for “alternatives that may be more acceptable,” he said.

The Hill is reporting that Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) is expected to make additional revisions over the weekend and present a new proposal sometime next week.

Meanwhile, the Labor Department reports that 903,000 Americans will lose unemployment benefits by the end of this week because of the impasse in the Senate.

This includes all the folks in Job Training programs. As of this moment folks in a school or in training are dumped.

JTG, been watching the voting going on...the Dems will keep bringing it back up; some of the Dems and the Repubs are whittling the unnecessary items out of it. it's all borrowed money, going right to the debt line.

it'll get passed; it just has to go through this

Well I would hope they are not going to make us think we have time then drop us cold.

I was getting the idea that it's a wrangle but man.. We low wage folks don't have much opportunity. It's not like we can get hired as a lobbyist.

I remind the American people we are not talking about high wages here. Unemployment is at most $450 a week in California and around $200 a week in Oklahoma I understand.

With rents in average of $800 a month folks are not living high on the hog.

I also was reading that the USA is on a crash course to devalue it's Dollar.

That the War Debt isn't even being factored in yet.

If folks are not able to have the basics I believe crime will rise.

For the first time in my life I find myself on unemployment. Fuckin sucks, I thought because I made it thru the worst last year that I wouldn't lose my job, I thought the worst was over. Fuckin economy sucks balls, and I feel the worst is just beginning.

Same with us. Hubs has never been on unemployment in his 57 years. He will shovel shit if he has to. We have watched our 401Ks drop like stones in the last year. It's so scary to me. His last day is Aug 18. You're right, things are going to get even worse. All the years you work, and pay taxes, save your money, and thats what you get,a kick in the ass.

No more benefits after 99 weeks? That's almost two years, fuck sake, that's a pretty big chunk of time to get something going in your life, what, we should carry people forever?
What incentive would there be to get a job if you could just stay on unemployment forever?

With that said, I agree that there are probably a thousand other areas to cut spending in if that's really the main concern here.

I used up ,my 99 weeks and I have no more benefits. I started to cut and polish gemstones. I am amazed how many people will buy a 20.00 agate or jade, to make some jewelry.

My 6 month average is 650.00, if I could expand 2-3x I think I can live (with my herbal too)

Another reason the extension failed to pass was the hedge fund managers, who make incomes in the billion dollars range, only have to pay 15% income tax. The rest of us pay 35%. Anyway, the unemployment extension had a provision to raise hedge fund managers income taxes to the same rate(35%) as the rest of us. SOOOO, it got voted down by the right and some of the left. The answer is to call, write, email your rep and bitch like hell. If enough people call and say you voted for the rich guy over my unemployment then your getting vote out in Nov.:2cents:
