Any bright sparks?

I want to hang this holder for a 600w lamp vertically,(below) when I remove the shade I am left with nowhere to attach the earth/ground wire to, what do I do?, ta! 
you could extend the ground wire and attach it to anything that is metal(copper water pipe, or open up an existing plug and attatch it to an existing ground wire.
just thaught id mention that i hate electricity and i had an electrician set up my room, my ballasts are grounded but because my relay switches have no ground he simply cut the ground wire leading to the sockets. he is a master electrician so i trust that he knew what he was doing, i didnt so i wasnt about to question him. so just to be clear, my ballasts are grounded but my bulbs have just the white and black wire, the green was cut short.
forgot to mention im running on 240v, dont know if it makes a diff though....

So I will need a length of cable, same width etc, insulated, and could connect to another horizontal hood's earth point could I?.
I do have some metal shelving stood on the floor I could reach quite easily if you think that might serve me better?, thanks again brother

yes you could, the point of the earth cord(ground wire) is to attach it to anything metal that enters the ground.
in your electrical panel ALL the wires in the panel are grounded to the same point, then from that grounding point there is a larger copper wire that runs through the ceiling of your basement and connects its self to the main copper water entry pipe, this pipe goes into the ground and is therfore grounded.
so i would say that the best way would be to do like you said and attatch your gound wire to your other horizontal hood's earth point, since your horizontal hood's earth point is already grounded by being plugged in the wall, and the wall plug is grounded by what i mentioned above.

Thank you all so much, to answer, yes I will ensure an electrician thinks about it for me, obviously I can't get one in 
I understand I may not need an earth but without going into it, if I had a fire I may not be able to escape fast enough, it needs to be safe or I wont dram of doing it.
It will be hung in a 'saddle' I am fashioning from leather, this will connect to a chain and up to the floor joists above my grow, I am pretty certain my ballasts are grounded from BS rules, it's why we have 3 pinned plugs, everything is grounded but I have disconnected mine at the lamp end, it still goes down the wire to the sockets own earth/ground.
