>Sow Da Seeds ... I think you are right...i did some reading up on it a couple of days ago and it seems a lot of other people feel the same about it as most on this forum do. My strain(according to BCBD) is...... " A strain of legend, The Purps has gone on to win many awards in recent years as some of the best tasting smoke the world has ever seen. Dense yields of pure purple. The taste is soothing, the buds dank, the bouquet is tantalizing euphoria. The high is both uplifting and soaring, with a zero burnout factor and a deep purple grape taste that lingers forever. If you want a garden so dank that you will start questioning the true meaning of life - go with The Purps. A First Place Strain Of The Year and a Two-Time BC Bud Depot Cannabis Cup Winner."...........and also "Product Information
Name: BCBD Award Winners - The Purps
Genetics: Sativa / Indica Hybrid
Specifics: Mendo Purps IBL
Flavour: Tantalizing grape taste
Flowering Time: Indoor: 7-8 weeks / Outdoor: Late-September

This is why i got these ......oh well I will see ..I even watched the video on youtube,so they actually got 3rd place 2 years in a row..maybe i got burned.....oh and the plant does take a long time to grow, but it is already a darker shade than the others

Mendo Purps is a clone only so what you have is different, luckily. I haven't tried BCBD's rework, it might be more potent :dunno: Best of luck to you. :tiphat:

i have to agree with greenjoe, that description sucked me in too. i cant wait to get them on the go, i need to find out for myself if this is the real deal!... also i read that the guys from BCBD were gifted seeds of the infamous Mendo Purps and if its a clone only variety i wonder how those seeds were produced? Either way it sounds like a superlative strain according to many people and all the accolades it has recieved. i want it in my personal stash.

Even though growers I know don't keep her around doesn't mean it isn't good smoke though, I remember people offering someone I know $20 to smoke a blunt of the purps with them.

I also think Reibsi had very good results with BCBD purps outside in canada.

I bought some bc godbud seeds from bcbd and was disapointed by the result, a low yielding leafy plant that couldnt hold up its own branches and was a bitch to trim. smoke knocked you on your ass tho, but nothing special. nothing like the description.

The Mendo Purps that I had (of a few years back) was excellent....

The reason many are saying it's garbage is the name game...Too many people jumped on board (BCBD, THSeeds, ect) and it watered down strain names. You may have Mendo Purps, but not really have the real mendo purps.

Anything with purple now a days makes me skeptical anyways there's much more to cannabis than pretty colors and grape flavors, actually I got so bombarded with purple fans/growers when working at a club that it actually turned me anti-purple.

Mendo Purps was on the top of my list to try for years..When I finally got her, it was the biggest let down I've had with any strain. But she is unique n has her place in the cannabis gene pool for sure. She is hard to dial in.

Funny....they sent me 30 seeds purps and outdoor mix...only 7 germinated. These 7 plants are all the same size...be it the purps or 1 of the outdoor mix// they are about 4"...just now starting to grow, after almost 6 weeks . whats up with that?

BCBD supposedly used the famed clone only "Mendo Purps" which was passed to them from a grower in Nor Cal that was at the cup one year. The Mendo Purps cut my boy has which is different than GDP,Urkle,Grape Ape in yield and veg but similar in smell and really stoney shit...

i would like to comment on the purp from bcbd but they rip me off ...and fucked my credit card big time and never dare to reply to any email .very shady

bcbd = thief

gypsy should carry their seeds because some say they have great result when they get their seeds ...same for bcsc when you order direct from them they rip you ! better order their seeds via other seedbank...the irony ...

All in all I'd say majority of commenter's here have summarizsed the Mendo Purps. Though it lacks potency, bud density, and is a polyhybrid prone to hermaphroditism - there are some positive attributes. It's an extremely fast grower that canopies well, responds quickly to photoperiod manipulation (begins budding fast), yields respectably, clones entirely too easy, and can produce quality herb outdoors also. I've had a lot of experiencing growing the strain indoors and while it's nowhere near a favorite there's something to be said for the pro's vs. the con's (like all strains). The "Upgrayyyed" is a cross of S.C.B.B x Mendo Purps (not the other way around, trybud). It's an improved selection of the original clone (as the name would imply) by virtue of yield & potency but at the end of the day neither are Cup winning material. "Upgrayyyed" was a single seed I sowed from an accidental cross from plants being grown hydroponically in neighboring table's. That original plant from seed was some special smoke but I've yet to have anything rival it propagated by clone. Which, for me, was yet another instance in my life affirming that which was grown from seed always has capacity to be superior than that which was grown from clone.

I had an original cut of the mendocino purps, sativa it wasn't, this was pure indica. My wife LOVED the taste/smoke, and even she agreed to throw it out for the small yield. My wife is extremely picky and has been growing a very long time and is well connected in the worldwide marijuana community, and we throw out an average of 20 strains a year. Sometimes she's mad at me when it happens, then she just replaces it with a bunch of other strains. We've got an enviable garden in regards to strains and phenotypes, and we're breeding new strains seriously also.

Like most purple strains - it delivers a great aesthetic appeal and smell but greatly lacks in the potency department
