Ten Year Flood Hits the Rain Forest

After the heavens opened up with a biblical downpour of rain, I knew the swamp forest would be flooded like I'd never seen, so I snuck in between storm fronts to take these shots.

Lost my boat paddle in the flood, and so wound up using (brittle) tree brances to paddle my way there and back, which is partly why I had to abandon ship at one point. :violin:

Suffice to say, I went to a lot of trouble to take these shots, so I hope y'all like 'em. These are mostly landrace Thai plants growing in three foot-tall swamp tubes that are completely submerged for the first time ever.

My prized, sole-survivor Super Lemon Haze plant is submerged entirely, yet I have read here that these hardy plants can recover from a soaking like this and go on to flower as as well as could be expected, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and wait for low tide.

The canoe is a dugout, mr.red, hand-carved out of a single log of wood that is first charred a little to make the sculpting easier.

Bought it from local woodsmen, and it ought to last five years before I'll need a replacement. They can be paddled in total silence, and so are the ideal stealth transport to my island grow sites.

@butteredit I expect the water level to start dropping in a day or so, unless there is another deluge. I'll try and post some shots of the watery labyrinth I navigate to my grow sites. I never get tired of the sights and sounds of the swamp forest.

Expecting to see total devastation and rotting plants, I was amazed to find my swamp garden fourishing after a major storm and flooding, and then being submerged under three feet of muddy swamp water for three days.

The Canna Gods have smiled and, knock on wood, I may get to see this crop of Landrace Thai and that solitary feminized Super Lemon Haze plant reach their full stretch and bud maturity, long after the last rainstorms have rumbled through.

In the following garden pictures, everything visible was well below water up till just 48 hours ago. In addition to being really surprised at the robust appearance of the plants after what they went through, I also noticed that virtually none of the planter soil in these swamp tubes was lost to the river flow.

Wow,nice work.
Good luck on the grow, with the raised beds that should help keep the roots from being waterlogged to long.
