T5 Lights

Hey Guys,

I realized I have some old T12s and not T5s. I would like to go to the T5 but Home Depot, Lowes and Orchard ONLY seem to carry T12 and T8 Fixtures. So my question is where (other than a grow $tore) can I get a 3 to 4 ft T5 dual bulb set up locally? Where is everyone else getting their T5 setups? I know I can order online but I really like to just go buy it if I can.

Thanks!

:D

man, is this up my alley.
U need to go to a local electrical wholeseller like platt or c.e.d and get ur T5 there, ask them if they have a dented or damaged one laying around, that is how i got mine, well it helps that i work there as well but we always have those laying around, some of the good ones that u might find are Lithionia I Beam series, u will only find 4 lamp fixtures in stock there, another that u might come across is a metalux high bay 4(lamp)54w-lamp t5, the general public pays around 150 dollars for this fixture with run of the mill lamps( my company cost for this fixtures is about 85 dollars and there should be about a 30% or so mark up on this fixtutre,AND the LESS questions that u have for the guy at the counter the cheaper it will be just u act like u know what u are after!!! this is also another great spot to pick up some lamps for veg, get the highest kelvin they have in stock probably a 5000k( blue ) or even look and see if the have or can get you a 6500K lamp for veg would be the best, even if they order a cheap china one it will do the job its the kelvin that maters, but the lamps for bloom are HARD as SHIT to find, i looked all over the planet and took me about three days online to find them, ( found using google about 14 pages down i found a place that STOCKED a 54watt 2700K lamp, every one has the 3000k but I found the real deal at the following website:
http://www.customhydroponic.com/estore/control/product/~product=LT-HMAT55427

they shipped my order hella quick ( the very next day and I got them the next. i live in nor-cal as well.
working in the electrical trade i ship lamps all the time and they boxed the shit out of them so they made it all in one piece, i am not home during the day so i did not want to ship them to my work becasue the label from " custom hydro " but theywere marked " Hamilton Technology " on the label so it even looks legit to the fedex guy or if u do ship them to work it should be all good, just tell ur co-workers it's ur new trumpet LOL
i hope this helped if u have any questions just hit me up!

Hey JDizzel!

Man thanks so much for the info. I mainly just want them for seedlings and clones. I found out the hard way that the T12s make them stretch too much! I'm gonna hit my wholesale spot tomorrow.

Cheers!

if that doesn't work, t5 is pretty common w/ aquariums. if you've got a fish/pet store around you, there's a decent chance they'd carry t5s (especially if there's saltwater shit there)

my home depot has t5's but if not go online, you can get anything online. I use discountan.com, they have everything and ship all over the us. Good Luck

I happened by a big pet store today and decided to check if they had T5 bulbs. They did have a few but they were significantly more expensive than the local grow shops.

T8's should work good enough, but a few pigtail sockets, some wire, some plugs and some connectors to make your own fixtures would be an easy cheap alternative,Home Depot would have everything you need, they have some great 45 watt CFLs for like 8 bucks that work awesome.
