Burglary conviction OK,but kicked off the football team for cannabis

It really is mind boggling to me how people that aren't cannabis people see cannabis. Should have stuck with the booze Mr. Masoli, after all boys will be boys.

<snip>Just five months later, Masoli is a disgraced former Duck, dumped from the team for wasting a second chance in a stunning fall from grace.

Masoli was pulled over by police on Monday night in Springfield, Ore., for failing to stop when exiting a driveway. Police say he was driving on a suspended license and there was a small amount of marijuana in the glove box.

It was his second run-in with the law in less that six months. He pleaded guilty in a January theft at a fraternity house and was suspended for the entire upcoming season by Oregon coach Chip Kelly.<snip>

"failing to stop when exiting a driveway"...WTF? is that REALLY a violation of the law? i've never SEEN anyone pull down to the street & stop in my whole life...

I do't think it was because of the weed. He was suspended for this year for that burglry.............now he was arrested again......it could have been anything, they would have kicked him off

agreed, could have been anything, btw it isn't just weed to them it's also a violation of their general drug policy, double whammy as he threw it away himself.

there's a time & place for everything, Michael Phelps was caught AFTER the Olympics getting stoned, right time (wrong place imo) to get buzzed.

and actually why would you jeopardize your future knowing (even while on suspension) that you can be drug tested???

Why would you knuckle under and be a butt kisser?

Why would you validate people that would ruin somebody's future for no other reason than they didn't do what they were told?

Oh my yes, it's a free country as long as you do what you're told.

why? because he signed onto the program, knew the tougher rules & consequences.......

indeed s4l, as a current D1 athlete I can vouch for the fact that being part of an athletics program is entirely different from being a normal student(person). The rules are clearly laid out before the season even begins, smoking marijuana will not be tolerated. If you don't like it, don't play a sport in college.

i think he got removed for the team for breaking more rules after already fucking up with the burglary stuff.

i'm sure coach got him a sweet break on his sentence for the guilty plea as it was he was a starter/star, and told him to stay in line while he rides out his suspension. he was allowed to practice so im sure he was getting reps running the scout team which i am sure the coach liked because the dfense would really get tested each day... anyways...

im sure it (the pot) compounded the driving on a suspended license charge. and then think about the quarterback getting a silly 'failing to stop at the end of a driveway' charge (while driving on a suspended license holding pot!!!!!!)... that probably solidified to coach that masoli is not the kind of guy he wants playing quarterback and leading his team... because hes a dumbass. basically masoli is a not very smart low life thug with a lot of athletic ability that smokes pot and he doesnt doesnt belong on the football field. hes a bad influence on the team and a major distraction...

ive been in trouble with my coach/team because of pot when i was playing college football (on full scholorship hehe i used to be a stud back in the day). there was an incident where campus security was doing a room to room sweep looking for a 15yr old girl that some guys on the team were running a train on (no i didnt take part)... well i had gone downtown to drink with some of my buddys unbeknowst to the 'festivities' happeneing back at the dorm... before i left for downtown i took smoked a rip off of my 3ft graffix bong, placed it on the side of my desk, and bailed.... well they found the bong in my room (and have since put it on display in the confiscations case). i found out what happened when i got back to my room - there was a note that coach was waiting for me in his officec so i go immediately... at 3 in the morning - he wasnt happy. but he didnt kick me off the team... but i had to run and run and run and run. and run and run and run and run, and i was on a short leash - no mistakes - academic or extra cirricular, or or that was it.

kid got a 2nd chance and fucked it up, what'd he expect, hard to have sympathy aside from the fact that mj crimes are BS. if he didn't get caught for burglary they'd have probably let him off

usually i find your comments rather eduacated and well thought out - whether i agree with them or not. but wow.....

How is agreeing with the Chip Kelly, the head coach of Oregon's football team that made the right move in dismissing a troubled athlete who cannot keep out of trouble... how is THAT buying into goverment propoganda?

I dont know what youve been smoking but maybe i need some... because i dont know what channel you are on dude!!!! Masoli broke university & team rules once, was suspended from participating in the 2010 season but allowed to stay & practice with the team, then he broke the rules again (pot infraction included or not), and got sent home.

where is any goverment propoganda in what the coach or university did?
The issue with Masoli has nothing to do with pot and everything to do with making the wrong choices, continually.

unless someone is saying the pot made him break into the apartment, the pot made him drive without valid license, the pot made him not stop at the end of the driveway.... you are delusional hahaha.

uh oh.
another athlete has been suspended for breaking team rules.
only a dui and no pot infraction... but he got suspended anyways. Dastardly!!!
Frankie Hammond Jr, University of Florida - http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5281940
busted for going 45 in a 20 w/2 open bottles of whiskey.... while being underage, too!!!

Should the naacp now get involved and lobby to revoke the suspension and have Frankie Hammond Jr made a starter on the Florida team because he shouldnt not be allowed to drink and drive and speed whenever he wants lol its a conspiracy i tell ya!!!!!! somebody needs to protect the children!!!!

its a privelage to be part of a team, and that privelage comes with a price of self sacrifice for the good of the team. These adages are old and corny, but they ring true:
"THERE IS NO 'I' IN TEAM" & "Together Everyone Achieves More"

still looking for the goverment propoganda btw... where is it?

I'm confused, people are upset that a thief got kicked off a football team? Guess I am low on compassion, I think I'll save mine for more serious issues and more deserving people.

Greyskull, ummm hello? The only thing supporting cannabis being a banned substance is gov't propaganda.

Regurgitating nonsense about throwing you life away and validating this unnecessary behavior which seeks to treat us like incompetent children, he 'broke the law' (didn't do as he was told to do by 'authority'). If you approve of kicking this young man of the football team for allegedly being in possession of cannabis you are a government asskisser IMO. There may not be an I in team but there sure as hell is an M and an E.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Of course in this case the asskissers are approving of evil and cheering it on.

Pyth has gone off the deep end on this one bro, I think some coach either dropped him on his head or done busted his bong sometime ago.......

I see the coward gave you some negative reps too for replying politely in his piece of shit thread.

dude did you miss the part where he had already been CONVIVTED of burglary and was on "probation" with the team that had NOTHING to do with pot?

I approve him being kicked off for not following team rules after already being on "probation".

Maybe you missed my story i posted about getting busted for pot and not getting suspended/removed form the team...

what planet are you on?

dude got in trouble for BURGLARY and was told "stay in line" and he went and got pulled over failing to stop where he was supposed to, while driving on a suspended license... and he had some pot to pput the cherry on top.

he wasnt busted soley with pot, twice.

he is a quarterback. they are the team leaders. they are supposed to be examples for others in how they carry themselves on the university. HAVE YOU ANY EXPERIENCE BEING ON A FOOTBALL TEAM? Im thinking not but you might have been a kicker hahaha

this is NOT about being kicked off a team for pot.
its about getting kicked off a team for failing to follow team rules, repeatedly.

why do you only think it was the pot charges? what did you read/hear that said POT was the reason for his dismissal?

Everything i have seen read and watched (and even experienced personally!!!!) indicated he was given a second chance and he failed... incidently he had pot on him while he was caught fucking up the second time.

wtf????

are you really that fucking dense dude?

S4L - rep schmep I like the color green gets boring lol
like i said, i think if anything he might have been a kicker... you know, soccer player lol

Authority is one of the things that keeps thieves from running off with my crap. It's handy living in a society where individuals are not responsible for their own personal security 100% of the time, gives them an opportunity to be more productive doing other stuff.

But yea, I would have rather seen him kicked off the team for not doing as he was told to do by 'authority' when he stole crap rather than when he held some weed.

Still, far more sympathetic people lose far more than this thief for simple possession, every day.

if masoli wasnt pulled over for failing to stop none of this 'removal from the team & university' stuff would have happened. he'd still be suspened from playing the 2010 season but he'd still be enrolled at the university participating on the football team.

even so, if masoli's license was not suspended when he was pulled over he wouldn't have been arrested (they arrest you first) and then had his car subsequently searched.

and even if masoli didnt have pot in the glovebox he still would have been removed from the team/university.

its not like he was pulled over initially for having pot in his glovebox...
