Where can I move that isn't a Police State?

Hey Guys,

Well I'm getting to an age where I have to put together a plan for my future. I've already got a bit of a battle plan together for my finances. However I find I no longer want to live in my native country where society, economy and law seems to be deteriorating every day and there's virtually nothing my government does that I support.

So what places in the world aren't corrupt police states where I can live, grow, and enjoy my life in peace? My hope would be to build up enough money through my financial battle plan to be able to leave my country and never come back.

Thank you

You can try the Amazon Basin, there's very little police enforcement there, but make sure you at least speak Portuguese. To be honest, anywhere there is civilization there are police states.

You know I wanted to live in Central America. You can get land on a little island off the coast of Nicaragua for nothing and live a life of solitude from the hustle bustle of the modern world. Problem is most of those places are overrun with criminals that will take your bike if you leave it out at night, cut your power cable to sell the wire for scrap and eat all your bananas.

There are no answers.
If you go to a place that is MJ tolerant you will live in a place that taxes you to starvation and makes you put seat belts on your dog.

Seems like Central America is by far more of a 'police state' environment than the US. And those jails are intense..no one gives a shit over there about what happens, corruption is widespread, etc..

I lived in a small Eastern European country for a few years, 10-15 years ago. They were just a few years out of communism and Soviet control, and hadn't yet gotten their act together enough to form a government. I saw more law and order imposed by the Russian mafia than any local or federal police.

It was a great place to live for a while, but I wouldn't start any grow ops there. Not being native, I stick out like a sore thumb. Not being native, I wouldn't likely fit into the local power structure, even if it is non-governmental. Not being native, I'm vulnerable in many ways.

I also lived in Brazil, in the big city instead of the country, but I did spend time out in small towns. Now there was a way to live cheaply, do your own thing, and not have anybody else particularly care about it. That was many years ago, but I still remember Canoa Quebrada Brasil as a little piece of paradise on earth, free of the normal worries of society. Made Key West, Florida look like New York City.

...sigh...

I'm amazed no-one has suggested Amsterdam - it has ranked first for living and work/life balance for the last three years - I'd love to go.

The other place is called Sealand (Wiki it) - essentially half-an-oil rig platform in the North Sea - it is its own country and ripe for invading (they do have guns to protect themselves though - really). What you suffer in high winds, you make up in free leccy if you have wind turbines that can stand the wind-forces - plus beware of pirates like yourself. They offered to sell it for a mere £62m - no takers. Pirate Bay tried to raise funds to buy it.

I am returning to USA as soon as I get some money saved and extra experience.

Oregon or Montana are about as wild-west as you can get in the US, or maybe Alaska, but I like my weather a little milder than most of those places.

Where in da blue eyed world?

Where in da blue eyed world?

Well sir, I checked your profile, and read yer post.
I'm still not sure where you are, or what you are on about.

But, if you are asking for a cool place to live?

Call me crazy, but I love the good ol' USA.
(I'm talkin' people, not government.)

Kona coast Hawaii, Big Island, up mauka side 'bout 1500' elevation,
I like to call it, the "arthritis zone".
(None of us is gettin' younger, brah, buy a house with no stairs.)

The climate is about perfect, the vibe is layed back, live and let live.

Half-assed is way more dan good enough in most cases.
We have Medical, and plenty recreational MJ.
You can ski and swim/surf in da same afternoon
One Island, 8 climates.
It ain't cheap, but what price, paradise?

Oops! too late, due to excess interest we have closed the airports.:)

Aloha,
Weezard
