C99 BX1: 345w LED Grow

My Background
This is my second grow, and my first using LED. Previously, I had used a 400w HPS in a 3x3 tent. I grew GHS Cheese & GWS with a total yield over just over 11oz. I had four plants in DWC, but one turned out to be pure male (thanks GHS fem'd seeds!) so that left me with three girls in 5 gal buckets.

Grow Goal
I hope to yield over 300g for my first run with this light, and I plan to transition to a rDWC scrog set-up to take better advantage of the light. Over the long run, I'm going to test the claim that this light can yield a pound, which converted to grams per watt is ~1.3. I am optimistic and I think this can be accomplished with a grow room that is dialled in.

Set-up
3x3 Tent
5 C99 BX-1 beans in 5 & 6 gal buckets
Adapted Lucas Formula w/ Hygrozyme

Week 3

Flower - Week 1
After 3 weeks of veg

The plants range in height from 16" to 26". No sign of sex yet. I had some minor issues with a couple of the plants, but everything is on track now.

I apologize for the poor quality photos. I'm looking to get a better quality camera.

Thanks for the reply. I changed the photo settings so hopefully you can see them now. I used a small CFL for a few days just as the plants were starting out as I hadn't yet received the LED. Other than those first few days they've been under the LED. I'm really digging the C99 BX1 so far, the smell is incredible!

I AGREE very bushy, but as much as i wanna try out the new LED's I just cant justify swinging that kinda dough right now, I feel its always best to wait when new tech comes out because in a year all these lights being used now will be obsolete. BUt great grow! subbed! do you keep a small floro on with the led? I heard it compliments the LED lighting somehow i forget the reason though...can anyone chime in about that?

I'm already trying to figure out which of his beans I want to try next! I've heard good things about the fly pack, but I'm leaning towards some grapefruit fly.

Just dropping by, I like the setup. I bet you get the 300g no prob!

A vote of confidence from an experienced LED user is always nice!

Thanks WizeWizo! I was really happy with how quickly the plants came along, and the roots developed a lot faster than I expected.

Topping for the win! Mosca has to get some credit for his great genetics, too.

They're fairly expensive lights, but it is what made the most sense for my situation and I'm glad I took the plunge. I haven't supplemented with any additional light, though I may consider doing so in future grows. I hope the price on these things comes down so they become a more viable option for other growers, such as yourself. If that means I have to pay a higher price to try and help get the ball rolling than I'm happy to do it.

yea bro definitely look into adding one or two floros I hear it unlocks some potential for the LED's ill try to do more research as to where i saw this. But reguardless it doesnt look like the led's need any unlocking lol they seem to be growin bushes just fine. good luck man!! ill be sure to follow this to harvest. Im curious to see if taste or quality is effected positively or negatively. lets hope for the + though :)

mate i also have a 345 watt panel and im currently in flower could you please tell me at what height you have you light above the plants ??

peace

I have quite a height disparity developing between one plant and the other four. The tall one is only 5" from the light while the others are 12" away. LEDgirl posted a thread a while ago that said optimal distance with the 345w was 12".

Looking good man! Will follow the progress...

All the best!

Thanks for the kind word!

The first plant to show sex is the biggest of the five, and I was not surprised to learn that it is male.

The plant was pushing 28-29" tall.

The root system isn't as developed as some of the other plants. I'll take some more root pictures when I update next.

Flower - Week Two

The plants are two weeks into flower now, and I am really happy with the growth thus far. 3 plants have shown sex, and two have been male. The female is looking super sexy, and has 8 tops. Nice and bushy. One of the remaining plants is having some root issues so I flushed it to clean it up.

Dead Dude #2 - Nice looking plant!

Remaining three plants.

Flower - Week 3

Two of the three plants are doing very well. The tallest is topping out at 36". The third plant has yet to show sex, and it is struggling pretty bad. The roots are looking worse and worse and they aren't responding to any sort of cleaning/flushing. Any suggestions?

Some shots of the developing buds!
