Thai Skunk and QW Organic Hybrid

QW is a fast flowering prolific hybrid with large fan leaves, stocky growth, sweet coconut smell, and produces large, dense resin drenched buds. The smoke is potent, sweet, and hashy. This variety came from a bag seed. I don't know what it is. My dealer only said that the name was QW. Prior to me finding this amazing variety my dealer had been getting Hindu Kush, Master Kush, Trainwreck x Afghani, and OG Kush. So it may be one or a combo of these. This finishes in 7/8 weeks.

Thai Skunk is a sativa dominant hybrid that finishes faster at about 9 weeks. The buds are long, fluffy, and ornately shaped. It is a tropical, skunky, connoisseur smoke. The high is both psychoactive and stony. I bought these seeds from 420-seeds.com. They gave me free Dinafem Hash Plant seeds too. The seeds I'm using are F2, I stress induced hermanned a TS and it pollinated about 100 seeds. Now I have feminized seeds.

My soil is made of 1 part coco coir, 2 parts perlite, 1 part enriched sphagnum peat moss. I amend it with diatomaceous earth and dolomite lime. I'm also going to use some peruvian seabird guano, mexican bat guano, indonesian bat guano, and kelp meal.

I am growing about 22 plants total. 14 under 14 26w CFLs and 8 under 1 400w MH and 1 400w HPS.

My CFL op has 3 unknown and the rest are White Widow Max, Silver Haze, and Afghani.

The HID room has 4 Thai Skunk about 1 week from harvest. 2 Thai Skunk seeds and 2 QW seeds started on 6-1-10. My plan for the seeds is to stadium the branches around the lights. I am only going to grow one female. The other three if they are female will be going in to the compost pile or make seeds if there is a male. I want to grow a monster plant this run. I'm going to wait until it's about 2-3ft before I flower it. The container I plan on using will be a 35 Gallon garbage can.

Today I removed a QW seed so now I have 2 TS seeds and 1 QW which is fine because I only want one female. In other news I sampled 2 buds this morning from a TS plant that will be finished next Friday. The trichomes for my plants are all cloudy but they won't be finished for 2 weeks. When that happens I will add my faster flowering plants from the CFL room to finish. I came across a 400w HPS ballast that I have a bulb but no socket so I'm going to borrow one later when the lights come on at 1800hrs.

Tonight when I checked on the ladies I found that one of my faster TS plants has a few yellow bananas. I'm going to isolate my best out of the CFL op to make a few more seeds since this plant is the best TS plant. I'm stoked but it was definitely a curve ball. The plants look good . I will do an update later but now I have to go isolate this pollen.

I put my TS herm into the cfl room with the fan blowing her pollen onto the other plants so in 4 weeks I will have plenty of seeds. When I took the plants out today I noticed the sole QW seed looks weak I'm going to give it another day to see if it picks up but if not then into the compost pile. The TS seeds look good 2 sets already. The silver haze will take 16 weeks and will be monsters so I want to have enough space for them. In other news since my buds aren't done I bought some headband which I'm not a big fan of but its all they had. It makes me very sleepy which doesn't cooperate with a wake and bake as you can imagine.

I culled the QW seed then started 8 QW and 4 bag seeds in a plastic bag with some clonex and superthrive. I'm going to harvest the TS Herm right now since I think that should be enough pollen to add this plant into the mix. I'm making is a earlier finishing(10 weeks), potent sativa dominant hybrid, sweet and spicy flavor, an energetic, introspective sativa high, enormous calyxes and yield.

I harvested and the herm is hung up to dry since I have no immediate need for smoke. This are looking good I think in about a week I can harvest all the TS I have some more space in the HID room so I will be movings things around to add a few more from the CFL room. I smoked some of the scissors hash I had built up which was phenomenal. I haven't went to borrow a light socket but I'm going to today that way I can take down the CFLs. Will be back at 1800 to report progress.

The attachment is a model for what the mature plant will look like in my next grow. I didn't put much effort into it. I simply wanted to give you all an idea of what I am doing. Hope you like it.

I wanted to find out how much surface area the plant will cover so I did the math BxH is 15.7 x 8 = 125' squared/9 =13.89 meters squared. I'm going to train the plant in a cylinder shape so the radius from the bulb will be about 2.5' so the cylinder circumference is 5 * Pi is 15.7'. My goal is 4lbs bone dry. I will be using 1 400w MH, 2 400w HPS.

Finally I found the pot size I was looking. Apparently there are 400 gal smart pots($80). Its 150 gals more than a cubic meter.

Yesterday at 2200, I moved the plants to the same room. I set up the extra 400w HPS with the mh and the other hps vertically in a line lengthwise. No more CFLs. New dimensions are 6' x 5' x3'. Its 14 small plants and 3 mediums over a space of 3 m2. I am losing a lot of light on the sides but that will change tonight. I'm going to use some tupper wares at 1800 to rise, angle them to the light so no wasted light, better light penetration. Since the foliage of the outermost plants will be risen above the plants on the floor I can shorten the distance between the plants and the bulbs. I can do that until the plants on the floor out grow their space. I know I said I'm going to grow a monster but after that I'm thinking an NFT stadium.

Pics, or none of this is really happening...

4 pounds from 800 watts? Good luck with that. 2.25 grams per watt is a goal everyone should be going for. I'm still trying for consistency at 1 gram per watt.

seeds are only 3" tall, my lights are in use on my current lst, bulbs hanging vertically in a line spaced 15" apart from each, centered the small plants crowd the middle, medium plants on the outside, I going to go get my camera today so I will have pics tonight. The seedlings are the ones I'm planning on doing the monster with won't be moved to the vertical setup I'm describing until all my other plants finish. Then I will break it down an throw it up again so you won't be seeing much except the current grow which is only 1200w. So the monster grow is at least a 1200w, 2 400w HPS and a 400w MH. So it might be unrealistic I don't know I've never grown own that large before but because of the math and biology behind it, it makes sense to me that I could get as much as 4lbs for 1200w of light hung vertically. It isn't like I'm asking the pot gods for a lot just 592 extra grams than the usual 1g/w. 1792g/1200w = 1.5. I don't think 2.25 is realistic but you never know. The plant is a Thai Skunk same genes as Thai Tanic Flying Dutchmen which Greenhouse grew out to 1600g/m2 in a 3x3 hole (video is on attitude). Plants that don't touch other plants don't feel any stress from competition so they grow more shoots and produce more flowers. My plan for the cylinder is a 5 ft diameter so a 2.5' radius and the bulbs in the center spaced evenly at 24", 48", and 72". I won't be using all the lights right away probably just 800w dual spectrum as the plant gets bigger put install the final 400w. Any way I'm not using a scrog around the bulbs just going to train it with bonsai wire. So the buds and leaves will all be made phototropic. The result a big mat cylinder of buds on the inside. I know the current record for vertical was like 14 lbs for 6000w sea of green, I think it was 34-36 plants on shelves facing the plants at the bulb. The plants looked like they were too far away though. Mine is going to be inches away until I run out of room to put the branches then I'm going to widen the circumference of the cylinder. I figure with the light beaming directly at the plants the distance is much shorter to the plants rather than beam it up and then back down. Inverse square describes how light intensity fades 50 % when the reflecting adjacent to the light source and even less when the reflector is farther away. All the reflector users lose about 50% of the light that could have been beamed to the plant. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line so why would any one want to back track and then cut across diagonally when you could just send the light where it needs to be. The person using 34-36 plants wasn't using 400 gals of soil either so I think I have them beat but I see how even with 1200w I could be dreaming. Maybe you're right maybe I should just ante up and go with more wattage. I mean if things going to be yielding 4lbs I should at least invest a watt per gram that way I get at least what I want and more if its over.
