How to keep my rez temaptures low...

My little Florida closet, has been getting a little toastier these past couple months of course with summer coming. I have the most difficult time trying to keep my reservoir temperatures low. I've tried frozen bottles and putting a fan over the res, but these aren't good solutions. Does anyone have a proven method of cooling down their res for their entire grow?

You can trywrapping res in insulation from the depot withfrozen water bottles but a chiller is the only real solution,But freezer boy and myself included have had constant high res temps and managed sucessfull grows this WR res averges high70's + I belieive the key is extra air and lucas formula I may be wrong but hav'nt had any issues since cutting out the Hygrozyme once it was gone no root issues

what kind of insulation are you talking about jm420? The best idea I had was to paint my res dark for light proofing and then add a skirt to reflect/insulate the reservoir.

I know your problem ursus... rez temps tend to want to be the same as ambient temps in the room.

Chillers are expensive..
but here is a little cheapo that has, along with AC in the room, helped a bunch for 3 years now..

http://www.amazon.com/CoolWorks-Ice-Probe-Power-Supply/dp/B001JSVLBO

$100...It will lower temps for 15-20 gallon rez 4-6*F.
if it gets too cold, run it on a timer..

If you have cement floor it is cooler than ambient, put the rez directly on it...

thats about exactly what im using is a 15-20gal rez

I was actually looking at that probe and didn't know if it would be worth it, but you say its well worth it?

No too many gave any positive feedback about the ice probe..
They must have larger rez requirements..

I have 2.. one for each, interchangeable rez..
It is one of the few items I do not regret buying..

Would a $400 chiller do a better job (lower temps)... YES..

I have a working iceprobe I will sell if anyone wants it. I would not suggest trying to chill a res over 10 gallons though.

Another idea is this.. The more you aerate the water the cooler it will get to a certain extent.

:yeahthats

I've never used hygrozyme myself so cant comment on that, however I too run a high dwc temp 72-78f. for me the trick was double the airflow in my dwc buckets and lowering the ppm of my mix by about 25% (still 1:2). I would also keep an extra gal per bucket of nute mix in a unused fridge for the days that i spiked over 80f. I would remove 1gal from my buckets then add the pre-chilled gals back into them. Then the warm gals would go back into the fridge. This brought my temps back down to 68-73f.
