re-veg opinions

Limited space and i just want to use my area as efficiently as possible. However, i'm trying to gather opinions about re-vegging to show sex for moms. These plants are taking a long time to show preflowers and its making it difficult to start bonsais this way(at this point should have just chopped them quick and taken clones.. so next round)

Anyways, i also know about females being Hermie'd from the stress of re-vegging, but i also read some one say re-vegging can hurt quality as well, yield and/or potency. So I'm just looking for some input, thanks.

If you re-veg a plant it WON'T lose potency or w/e. It will be bushier though..which can be nice.

I have one I harvested (Skunkberry) and I left it outside with temps dropping down to <50F and it came back. No water, food, nada, and it just started up..I'm keeping it for its robustness, maybe I can incorporate this in other strains. And the cold turns it purple, blue, red etc.

I re-potted it tho in new coco, packed VERY tightly. It didn't miss a beat. I cut the roots as per the bonsai mom thread I'm presuming you we talking about. Otherwise I've got that link somewhere..

One might take cuts and give them 12/12 while plants remain in veg. If there's only one grow chamber, 14/10 might show sex before 18/6 (or even longer lights-on periods.) 14/10 is probably a closer reflection of nature and shouldn't induce hermie-level stress. Once sex is determined and no more than pre-flower stage, a return to a longer lights-on period can take advantage of increased photosynthesis without the stress of a full shift from 12/12 to veg.

Yeah Re-Vegging is more about taking a plant that has produced flowers already and getting that plant to go back to a vegetative growth phase state.
So to test for sex we should make a clone and flower.

But DiscoBiscuit is right 14/10 seems to be a low stress situation.

It is reasonable to assume the growth of a re-vegged plant could be less than a seedling plant.
I don't see this as bad it just would reflect the age of the plant and it being encouraged to revert which isn't a normal situation on most of the Earth

I'm assuming from a lack of horror stories that re-veg clones are viable and that seed made from them will be viable and vigorous.

i've done re-veges before, i understand it takes time for them to grow again, but freeing up veg space would be really nice and weeding out any males in the process would be helpful.

Thanks for the info guys, really appreciate it.

+1, take cuts and sex the cuts. then you can continue your veg growth with your moms without ever having to slow them down during the revegg process...

"females being Hermie'd from the stress of re-vegging"
Theories about why plants produce hermie flowers are rampant in the culture, but actual proof is scarcer than hens teeth. One thing seems obvious, it's a mixture of both Nature and Nurture, which makes the elimination of variables for experiments into an amazingly difficult task. We may not be seeing definitive answers soon! For now, it's best to look at hermies from the point of view of your conditions and say, "Plant X hermied in my garden". That doesn't mean it will in someone elses, and that's an important point to remember.

A revegged plant often doesn't have the right structure to produce as nice a product as a fresh clone of same plant. It's the structure that kills the product, not some kind of 'clone depression' (which is a cannabis myth). A revegged plant often has a very messy, bushy shape that is so dense at the bottom it makes 'lollypopping' for nice top buds a pretty difficult job.

If you take a clone from the new regrowth of a revegged plant, it will often outpace the original plant in the same room. I have one in my room right now that is flowering right next to it's original mother and it's about twice the size.
