Odor control in a sealed room??

I plan on running an 8x8 area with cO2 and a\c, will smell be an issue? I'm using the super sun 2 hoods and will be venting my lights in an enclosed system. My room will basically have no exhaust. Would it be a good idea just to hook up a couple of carbon scrubbers that would both intake and exhaust in the same room?

^^Yes. Buy a BIG filter and set it on the ground. Buy a corresponding fan and mount it on top, pulling through the filter. Circulate the air in your room well with oscillating fans also.

If you room is truely sealed with little light leaks you shouldn't need to be doing the air filtering so often to eliminate smell. When i has a sealed closet i just put it on a time and ran it like 5 min an hour to clean the air mostly for pathogen reasons. I did always run it when i opened the door to maintain neg pressure and keep smells in check.

uhm.. my vote is no on FMJ's advice..

Find the biggest carbon filer you can afford and buy the next larger size.. run it 24/7/365. There is no such thing as a carbon filter that is too big.. unless it doest fit in the room.. haha..

If smell level is still gets lively (as it does with some strains at some times) get an ozone generator like the tiger air UV lamp model and put it on the other side of the room from the carbon filter and on a timer to run as necessary. The tip about fans and extra circulation stated above is another great idea!

I vote 24/7/365 too. You can never be to careful. Smell and loose lips will sink you!

i have to 2nd FMJ's advice. i run 9 plants in an 8 x 8 area within a small bedroom of my house. i have this little ionizer that i sit outside of 8 x 8 area but inside the room and i don't smell a damm thing outside the door of the room! even during flowering, not a damm thing! carbon filter will cost you tons of money and running all that tubing is a pain in the ass. and they are LOUD. hope this helps.

Where's your negative pressure coming from if your room is "truely sealed"?

Pretty bad advice IMO.

You get used to the smell. You guys have no idea if you have odor or not.

If you can't afford to run the fan 24/7, you have bigger problems

Nobody has to be a douchebag about advice that was given...Or call anybody names. Just correct the info, and teach. Your poor attitudes will make this person not receptive to your advice.

There are faults with all advice given here IMO. FMJ's advice is not advisable because you are not keeping the constant negative pressure that is needed. Even in sealed rooms, there are always little cracks and leaks that if you don't keep the air flow negative, the smell will leak out. And also to point out, a CLOSET is much different than a filled 8x8 room in regards to odor that is output.

The advice on buying the biggest scrubber you can buy is bad advice as well. Since you are NOT using the scrubber to clean to air going OUTSIDE, you need to use a smaller scrubber and fan setup to constantly recirculate the air inside the room. Buying the biggest one "you can afford" in a smaller room (like an 8x8) will make the room smell like carbon...Not "clean" how you want it. Not to mention the excessive use of power and cost for equipment and all the other factors that come into play.

My advice would be to run a 4 or 6 inch scrubber...At the opposite end of the entrance of your room continuously. Scrubber on the bottom, exhausting at the top and positioned in a way that it will facilitate the circulation of air in the room. ( Remember your Co2 is heavy.)

You don't need anything insane. Assuming your ceilings are a standard 8 feet, you have 512 cu ft of air to clean. A 6 in scrubber hooked up to a little 465 cfm squirrel cage fan will run all the air in your room, accounting for flow loss from scrubber, every say 1.5-2 minutes. I assure you this will be more than sufficient to meet your needs.

Things would be different if the air needing cleaning was going OUTSIDE.

I also have an 8 by 8 room with 20-25 plants normally and get by with a vaportronic with classic neutral cartridges.I have it right in the flower room

vapourtronic disk, 2.25 a peice, they last a few weeks usually, put a neutral scented disk in your room, odor will be gone, put a linen scented one outside your room or just inside the door u enter so it seeps out the most and nobody will smell anything but fresh laundry. its what i used to do, works amazing , is silent , and cheap. i lived with non smokers, they never smelled a thing and new about it the whole time, they acutally liked the linen smell which is only obvious about a ft past the door, nothing major.

order the sample pac from vaportronic website itself, theyll ship you all there scents in about 3 days, most of there scents arent so bad, linen to me is actually very pleasant, for a very stinky skunky diseal i dont know how many u would need, but for most cannabis a couple or one(disk) do the trick, check the vapourtronic thread an pm me if u have questions.

Hey blowstrees how would you clean your air if it was to go outside? Thanks a million

I would say to hell with the scrubber and extra fan and purchase myself a Uvonair Corona Discharge Generator. Look them up as I can't post a link for rules of this site.

Match it to your ducting size and monitor the output end for odors. The units costs a little more than a scrubber and fan but you don't need to replace it. It will handle whatever you throw at it.

You cannot just discharge ozone into your grow room and thats why I would use a scrubber for a sealed room instead.

Ehh whatever...Here's a link lmao...Enjoy and Good Luck
