At last some proper Sound Advice, You can get yourself a little 125w CFL, 6400k with the lamp holder for around £25 or so, the reflectors gonna cost you more or you can buy a complete T5 unit or similar Floro set-up, theres a lot of different ones that are all sound, its the 6400k ones you want-Blue Spectrum. Either way Floro's sound ideal in your situation. Alot of new growers start with CFL's as they run cool-ish & there's no or little heat problems with them. A 125 CFL Envirolight complete with reflector will cost you around £45. You could probably get going with that & use for most of the Veg time, say 3 weeks or so. This will give you time to read up & study on setting up a HID & fans, I recommend getting Aircooled HPS lighting for the remainder of the grow, Grolux Lamps are very good, especially for the money & you can Veg & Bloom under those, Cost around £20 per lamp(Bulb). CFL's are very handy & im sure if you get yourself a little envirolight it will serve you well for a few years to come. I use mine for the first 2-3 weeks then throw in the Growlux to completion. Try not to scrimp on ventilation & Air circulation, Put the effort into that & it'll really increase your chances of success!
A duhuemidifier is always a great investment too, great advice. Nothing worse than getting to the end of a grow to discover you have Moldy buds, the De-Huey will save you from this bollocks so i will highly recommend you look into getting one, especially by about half way through Bloom when your gonna need it. Good Luck to you man & i hope you have a successfull harvest! If you ever need a hand just give us a shout bro!
10 plants, well it will depend how big you wanna grow them & what irrigation system you put them in be it Hydro, or Soil, if Soil its gonna depend on how big the Final pots their gonna live in. But 2 x 600 watt aircooled hoods is a good number that springs to mind bro, should give you anything around the 2lb+ mark in return, & if you put the work into setting up the ventilation & Air circulation & or Airconditioning then there's no reason with the right planning & enough reading & studying why you wont hit that sort of return, Good Luck on it all Buddy!

Peace & Enjoy Yourself.............Scroger! ;)

Thanks for all the Negative Rep Ludacris, i obviously deserved that man for trying to help this guy. Some people have little intelligence & you seem to fall into that bracket! Lets all advize New Growers to stick 400w HID(HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE) Lamps on new baby seedlings, Man you talk pap. All you do is run around quoteing shit out of books, anyone can do that shit, its real growing experience that counts & i dont see you with much LMAO! I rarely quote any Book if ever, just talk & advise from real growing experience how it should be. Thanks alot buddy! Have a great day!

Scotty,
No man, you dont put HID's on a baby seedling, you'll fucking kill it,

That seedling was expecting the full strength of the blazing sun; A body that throws light more than 93 million miles. You're worried about a micro, mini, flashlight that loses half it's strength in 6 inches?

Alright guys!! Shit stops here.

Clean it up, put it back on track or I will close it. This is NOT the example we set for new members and growers!

Come off it FB, you got a problem with me aswell man. this guys a new grower & wanted advice, have you even read the thread from start to finish? Its BAD ADVICE to give NEW GROWERS, telling them to burn a 400w HID over baby Seedlings, Its just asking for trouble imo. The Sun & outside enviroment are a little different from a garage or grow tent man! I think your comments are unwarrented man. The best advice for new growers was to use floro or CFL. I'm sick of this shit now! You were the last person i thought that would dissagree with me man, Nice One FB! ;)
Again lets all advise NEW GROWERS to burn 400w HID's on Baby Seedlings, LMAO thats terrible advice for Noobs bro! You of all people, Im shocked & Surprised!

Sorry Fon, I will defend what ive said from the start man, CFL's are better for Noobs to use on babys than HID;'s, even you agreed with me on that score man! Sorry if you think its meant any other way! The Guys already made the choice & some are bitter about that by the looks of it, not my fault my advice was the better!

No what I meant was no slinging contest with Ludacris. If you disagree with me that is fine. That is what discussions are for. Just no bad vibes.

Thats all.

My problem is your attitude. You're welcome to your incorrect opinion but, it remains incorrect. The sprout below has everything it needs to survive the full strength of the blazing sun and you're worried about a fireflies worth of light?

FreezerBOY, The point of the thread was the NEW GROWER was asking for the best advice & i gave it, hows it Wrong advice, to be telluing him to use CFL's & stay away from HID's for the first week or two, I say your giving poor advice if you dissagree bro. Going round telling Noobs to use HIDs on Baby Seedlings is terrible advice for you its no problem but for a new grower its a different story man, & i aint getting into no pissing contest with you man, Im of the opinion CFL's would be much much much better than a HID for the OP's paticular case. Nothing more just my opinion & imo the right one. I wasnt gonna post in this thread again but youve forced my hand with bullshit sorry man. The OP's a new grower, you dont go telling noobs to stick HID's on babys bro come off it man, play the game!

How is lying to the plant, depriving it of it's basic needs and greatly increasing the chance of death good advice? Do we protect babies from their mothers? Do we outlaw milk to keep babies safe from drowning?

Plants bond with the first thing they see. If you lie to them and tell them the sun is a cfl, they believe you and build themselves accordingly, making then incapable of surviving under that which they need to flourish without acclimation. Anytime you acclimate or transplant, you introduce the chance of death, whether it's lamps or paper towels or anything else.

There are many reasons for low level lighting. Protecting sprouts isn't one of them. If safety is your prime concern, lose the paper towels, lose the cfls, and sprout in your final grow medium under the strongest lamp they'll ever see.

LOL, sorry FB but i gotta dissagree with you on this occasion, please dont take offence man, there's no need for unplesentries or dissing one another. Maybe you should write a book you obviously know more that ED Rosenthal or Jorge C & many other authors you are dissagreeing with. So now your saying stick a one day old baby seedling under 1000w or lets go for it 5000w or even 10,000w of HID-No Where near as strong as the Sun, its a flash light in comparison. No way Bro, Thats just ridiculious Brotha FB & I for one do not agree. CFL's- P-LL's LED's and the like have their place imo & thats at the start, when the seedlings are most vunerable. I completely dissagree bro. You should write a book definately man! Anyway this is just sillyness & i'm starting to feel sorry for the OP, he must be really confused, poor dude! I aint postin on this thread anymore so you stick with what you do bro & so will i, Good luck to all! ;)

That's the exact scenario I warned against. Force a plant to accept a CFL as the sun and an HID will kill it. That's not the fault of the lamp, it's the fault of the grower. You don't arrest the gun for murder, you arrest the murderer.

To much truth here man, truth hurts people's "feeling's"...lol

Dear New Grower, do you understand what is being discussed? Everybody trying to help you up but I think they might end up trampling you.

Not going to lie. This thread has gotten me more confused. I'm just going to read all the guides I can and the pray!! haha

Just do them under an hps but be careful on lamp height and climate control (install an extraction system A MUST) and you will be fine. I just go for it and it really makes a difference to growth. I used fluro's for my first grow to get my sprouts started but then decided to trash them and started my next grow with hps and have never looked back as these lamps are amazing when you get the hang of things. I would suggest anyone to have cfl's as far away from the plants as possible and thats the trash can.

LUDA.

as long as the temp in your room is 72 to 78 degrees and your MH is not too close to your little ones, you should be fine. do not mist them with the HID/MH is on or you will burn them.
