So i gotta go to Seattle WA for a wedding, and im really tired of all my PNW friends telling me their commercial mids are the best weed ever...so i really wanna bring a few samples up there.

I have my med card, and i heard WA is a med state.

I know that you can fly with up to 8 zones out of SFO or Oakland airport.

While local laws may vary from state to state, some airports in the San Francisco Bay Area allow up to eight ounces of marijuana for card-carrying medical marijuana patients. Police say the policy at San Francisco International Airport echoes the city guidelines used in San Francisco proper. The same goes for Oakland International Airport in Oakland, Calif.

However, in nearby San Jose, police say they don’t make arrests or confiscate drugs but do send a report to the federal authorities. (That may change now, because last week the U.S. Justice Department told its attorneys to halt prosecution of medical marijuana users complying with local laws.) The policies show the disparities between cities only a few dozen miles apart.

While airport security often confiscates liquids and notifies police of child pornography or other contraband, Transportation Security Administration officials said they will not confiscate medical marijuana if OK’d by airport police. However, local police do notify a medical marijuana user that laws may be different where they land.

While many pro-marijuana groups are rejoicing at the prospect or traveling with medical marijuana, it ignores the real problem. If it’s up to local jurisdictions to enforce local laws, then the law will be different at every airport in every state. We need airport and city administrators to get together and create policies and procedures to deal with medical marijuana so passengers aren’t free to go on one leg of their trip and be arrested at the next. There needs to be posted guidelines at security checkpoints, public service announcements and education.
.

Has anyone ever done this legally?

I was thinking about taking a very small amount like an 8th or so.

To make sure it's legal, I'd suggest calling both airports to make sure there won't be any issues. Explain to them you're a medical patient who's legal, and both states you are going to are medical states. Also tell them you are only bringing a very small amount, so they don't think you are going there to sell it.

Have you considered mailing it to your destination? A friend of mine who's a prop 215 patient mails his to a non medical state when he visits and never has issues. I'd suggest reading the mail interdiction thread, as it's pretty easy.

Another thing I'd suggest, is to simply bring edibles instead, as there really shouldn't be any problem with that I'd think.

While flying into Seattle is probably 'safe', no way should you fly out of Seattle with anything on you. When I say 'safe', I mean you're not getting searched upon arrival 99 times out of 100. If you get searched at the Seattle airport and you have weed, I don't care what kind of paper work you have, they WILL detain you.

A friend took 8oz's to Hawaii out of SF last winter. Right in his carry on. Put a copy of his prescription right in the bag of herb. No one opened his bag but they x-rayed it.

^yea my boy took some to hawaii but he put it in checked...with a copy of his prescription.

i think im gonna print out the article from the news...put my actual rec in there...and only bring like 2 grams.

TSA guys are Feds, not State, and aren't bound by state law. Theoretically they could hassle the poop out of you; more likely just take your shit and make sure you missed your flight.

^in the news story it says the TSA is under state jurisdiction and they follow state laws. This is only at SFO and OAK, at the other ones they make a federal report.

What about bringing normal pills? i have 2 norcos i want to bring because its hard to fall asleep in hotels....i be getting some crucial headaches whenever i sleep in a hotel.

im only bringin 2 grams so if they get all pissy il just tell them to throw it out and let me on my ways.

the TSA in san fran airport are straight idiots! i went through there on my way to Oregon. went through the metal detector, even got patted down by two of the kats.

i get to oregon and am pulling shit out of my pockets in the rental car and notice that my Protek switchblade was in my pocket! i completely forgot about it! this mofo is highly illegal, if TSA would of found it, id be in big trouble.

on my way back to the bay area, i stopped and asked to speak with a supervisor and explained the whole thing. i didnt like that i made it through. if i made it through with a metal knife, a fucking terrorist can make it through with a bomb. straight up, the metal detectors were off and the pat down was weak....

I had an 1/8 in my carry on at SFO when I was flying to LA.
My bag kept going off so they had to rescan it about 4 times.
They found the 1/8 (not the cause of the rescan) and called the police over.
I gave them my card and paperwork and the cops gave my meds back to me!

They told me that the airport is a seperate jurisdiction from the state but they gave back the meds with no problem.

In fact, if I didn't have the forgotten piece of metal in my bag that was making the alarm go off-they wouldn't even have found the 1/8-which was just thrown into my carry on.
Not hidden or anything.

Have you seen the TSA guys at airports? Oakland and SFO particularly! They aren't the brightest bunch. TSA is only trainned to search for bombs, boxcutters, fire arms, knives, weapons of mass destruction, fingernail clippers, etc. If they find drugs, they have to turn you over to the local police that have jurisdiction in that airport. If the local police are SFO or Oakland, it is their policy, with a MMJ rec, to be allowed to fly with it. Where you land however, is another story. And you best damn believe they know what goes on where you're coming from. You ever land in JFK coming from Amsterdam? Or MIA? Cavity Search!

On a serious note, I remember talking to a guy that was flying into SFO from Portland, Or. He called TSA at both airports ahead of time and said he was a legal Oregon patient, and California is a medical state, so they said, there was pretty much nothing they could do and he was free to fly!
