wow bro, thats bad
i would wait for some more opinions other than mine but i think you are right cal/mag def.
i would get some cal/mag+

id say go tap water with nutes, usually for most nutes made for harder waters your at about 6ph which is nice, on just water days use a brita which will take a 8ph tap to a 6ph perfectly. my point is your water is to pure, meaning u need to buy an amendment u take out for nothing with the water u buy or make. otherwise u need soil sweet powderized liime in your mix.

Looks like a phosphorous deficiency to me. Although that may just be a result of nutrient lockout caused probably by low ph. Make sure your water ph is above 6 next watering and see if that doesnt help. If the problem gets better, feed with nutrients with a high P ratio. But make sure your ph is right first because i think the use of reverse osmosis water is throwing your ph off. goood luck.

Doesn't look like magnesium problem to me. Looks more like your PH is off and the plants aren't getting enough nutes. That or you are over feeding.

In my experience mag deficiency usually starts with rust colored spots, followed by the leaf folding up, eventually drying up and dying, but more of a dark color than yellow.

Here's a pic of one of my girls with the start of a mag problem, I usually only see it in the flowering stage....

2nd pic it's the plant in the middle.

I went to the R/o water because of chloramine in my water... believe me i don't WANT to buy the R/O water but things were slow and an experienced someone moved here and swore the water was poison... i've been between 6.6-6.8ph w/ biobizz @ 1/5 strength. Today i turned it up a notch and had my ppm @ 650 including 1 tsp per gal of epsom.

The second pic is of plants that are 2 weeks ahead, Im probably just going to YANK them tomorrow they are at week 4 what's the point?. I actually flushed one with 6 gallons of pure ph'd @6.5 before I left for 4 days when I came back it was worse so Idont "think" its overfeeding.

It wouldn't hurt to add a tspn of dolomite lime into the topsoil @ this point.

Thanks for the responses....

That looks a lot like a phosphorous deficiency. 6.5 pH isn't all that bad, get much lower than that and phosphorous is the first thing to get locked out, so you're in that zone. I'd make a tea out of some bone meal, worm castings, and a little fruit-eating bat guano (check out the high-P tea mixes in the organic soil threads). Start that bubbling 12 hours before your next watering and feed those babies well.

Best of luck whichever route you take.

  • Mg deficiency affects lower leaves first, yours look stricken from the top down.
  • N toxicity darkens the leaves considerably, which is obviously not happening here. General nute burn also doesn't resemble P deficiency so much.
  • Adding extra dolomite lime won't hurt right away but it might later as it releases over time if your pH is already in the safe area, which it is. If you notice symptoms of Mn and then Fe deficiencies after adding lime, this will probably be why.
