question on harvest and flush

Howdy folks, I just have one or two questions.

I have a run underway and may 30th is the start of the 7th week of flower. I am seeing red hairs on the top buds and some of the lower popcorn buds are now starting to get a few red hairs on them aswell. I have looked and I dont see any amber trics yet, well maybe one or two here and there. My question is...when do I cut off the nutes and start flushing?

They are in soil/16oz dixie cups and I give them a small flushing everyother other day when I water them. If the run off is brown in color then I'll flush it alittle untill the run off turns clear. I know its got to be getting close to the cut off point but I am not sure how much longer to let them go before I cut off the nutes and start flushing.

Also...can you add soil to plants wile they are in bloom? I have some coming out after this run and I did not put enough soil in the dixie cups (They are like half full) so after I water them they want to lean over and fall. If I add soil now will they root from the stem into the new dirt? If so will that slow down flowering? I'm not looking to slow it down or anything I just want to make them more stable so when that big fat cola explodes the little planet will hopefully take the weight.

Thanks

You can add soil to dixie cups without much issue. The major problem with this is that there can be an abrupt shift in the ph of the soil if the soil you are adding to the cup is significantly different from the ph of the soil that's already in there with the plant.

Keep in mind that adding soil to the cup for a plant that is 7 weeks into flower is almost entirely for your own sense of propriety. Your plant is not likely to make use of that newly offered space in the last weeks of its life cycle.

As far as flushing, this is largely dependent on you, your growing style, your feeding style, the genetics of the plant and your personal tastes.

Some of the unknown herb I've grown tastes really harsh without a 2 week flush even after a few weeks in a curing jar. My AK47 tastes great whether flushed or not. After a 3-4 week cure it smokes amazing whether flushed or not.

Experiment for yourself. Only you can answer this to your satisfaction.

Thanks for your reply Anti. :)

I just want to add the soil so the plant dont flip over and pull the roots up when I water. The stalks are tiney with heavy tops. I dint know if adding more soil to the stalk would cause it to want to root and go back to veg in the middle of the budding cycle. The one's with an issue are in week 4.

If they're week four I'd add it. No matter when you add it, the only thing that will make the plants revert to veg is to give them less than 12 hours of light, and even that will take a month or so before they'd fully revert.
