Thinking of building a 4' x 12' room > running 3 - 8" ac reflectors inline using either a 8" vortex or 8" maxfan for ventilation.. each hood will cover a 4' x 4' space...

reflector choices are:

Radiant 8 - Hydrofarm

Blockbuster 8 - Sunlight Supply

Magmun XXXL 8 - Sunlight Supply

fan choices are:

Vortex 8"

Can Maxfan 8"

:thank you:

Magnum XXXL and Vortex! I like Hydrofarm products buy no way the daystar throws as an effective footprint as the Magnum.
I love my radiant(400w mh), but still want to try Magnums for my 1000w hps bulbs.

I have and use the XXL Ochos, as they are great hoods. I really like the 8" Cool Sun XL's though, as the glass swings down and cleaning the hood is much easier than the XXXLs(which require two people). My 2 cents...

Magnums are the best hoods available on the market today and you can't go wrong with either of those fan choices. I'm personally a can fan guy though.

im really digging the CAP lumenair hoods
nice design, and well built. i really like how they designed the glass seal. although im sure there are those who will disagree.

From what I remember I think a Silverstar 8" gives a little more consistent coverage, compared to the XXXL's, so Silverstar gets my votee

Really depends on the area your growing in and how your growing!

But all the patients I have talked to around here love the Magnum XXXL.

XXXL all the time, tested few Raptors....knew they were heavy but after they pulled the same screws i use for the XXXL from the studs and crushed my girls .....I will only use the XXXL's , but you're right its up to growing styles

Daystar 8? Wow, what'd they do, just remove the two reflective ends altogether? :D

I hate 8" air-cooled hoods. IMO if you need that much inline cooling, you should break it up into segments and use a plenum to supply cool air. I really wish I could get a lot of these hoods in 4".

Right now I'm on Radiant's, but picked up some Magnum XXXL's to try out. So far, Radiant wins for most scenarios IMO. Looking forward to trying out the Blockbuster's, looks like an a slightly better reflector. I've also always been a bit skeptical about Hydrofarm's diffused reflective material finish. :chin:

I use the 6" xxxls for my veg scene. 2 of em on a lightrail5 do the trick for a 10'x10' veg.

I use the magnums xxxls and I wont use anything else with 1ks. These things kick ass. I would make your room 12x5 with these hoods. You will be very happy come harvest with the extra 12 sqft of finish mj.

This is 9x6 2k xxxl hoods and look at the outside buds.

I have 2 Super sun II's, and I love them. I grow in 4x4 tents.
The swing open glass, does indeed, kick ass.
I still want to try a 1000 hps, w/ a XXXL, in a 5x5 tent. I think that would be sweet!
