Dude its hard enough to get your card here if you have cancer or another serious illness. It's not like Cali where you can just pay a doctor $200 and be on your merry way. I have friends that probably have ADD and cannabis definitely helps but I seriously doubt you could find a doctor who would agree.

Yea, Starting to understand that now and that's what the whole purpose of this thread is about. If its really not worth my time to get a card I'll do it the way I've always done it. Illegally.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll probably look more indepth later, but as of now it looks like my chances of getting the card are pretty slim :/

its technically possible to get your MMAR card for anything that cannabis helps with.

but in reality the system and all components are too fucked up. you'll have a tough time. i mean if you let a bunch of posters on an internet forum make you decide that you arent even gonna try it you dont have the patience to go through with it. it sounds super gay but if you dont believe in yourself and do it for yourself aint nobody else gonna. why u coming to canada anyways??? id go to montana or something. cheap land good med program.

My renewal this year is now 2 weeks late and has taken 10 weeks in counting, and this is just for a renewal

im sorry to hear that. are you still legally safe even though HC is taking forever? i hear so much conflicting info, some people get theirs in weeks, some months, etc...

wasnt HC court ordered to put a 30day max timeframe on application and renewal processing??

I'm definetly not giving up, I've just done my research for now. I'm coming up for some schooling also. I'd love to go out west but education takes priority right now. Hopefully I can find time for gardening also :D

A refugee is a legal status and part of the immigration process, look it up, it is one of 3 or 4 statuses that an immigrant can claim and basically means that you need protection from your home government, how would Steve get refugee status being from the USA??? Are you completely sure about the facts here Marco??? And according to HC you need to have a legal status in Canada, like come on bro, what you are saying is that ANYONE can illegally come to Canada and apply to a federal program controlled by the government... There are slightly over 4100 of us who are actually licensed, but you are saying of those 4100 some are not canadians and are not even here legally??? An ilegal gets no services from our Provincial or Federal governments, that is a fact... You are right about non -residents paying out of pocket, that is because they are not entitled to any services provided by our government, they are not members of our Counrty, in any way... They MMAD program is a SERVICE provided by our Government, just like Social Assistance... We as tax paying residents fund this program through our federal taxes, an illegal pays no taxes and as such is entitled to no services... So unless you can provide facts, what your saying makes not even a grain a sense...

Now with your student Visa then you are eligible for temporary medical coverage via the province for the life of your Visa... So you want to contact the province and ask them how to start the process, because everything in Canada is a process...

I don't really care that my renewal has got here yet, I have been asurred by HC that I am fine and will not get prosecuted, I still have my paperwork and paper certificate from the past 3 years so I can show leo if they decide to make a fuss, it is not hard to see that I am sick, plus I have MS related things all over my walls and house from the work I do with the MS Societies, so technically yes the police could fuck with me if they choose but it would really be a lose lose from them because I would win the case plus sue the hell out of them and draw a lot of media attention to my cause, which of course is Medicinal Cannabis...

Steve Kubby was a REFUGEE when he applied he WASN'T legally in Canada and eventually went back to the USA. As long as you have a Canadian Dr / Specialist sign the forms that is all that is needed. I know another patient living in Canada who ISN'T legal and he is an exemptee, he pays the dr out of his own pocket which is the norm for those who are NOT residents.

Take Care and Peace
Marco

there is no indication that u need to be a citizen of canada. no record of my birth was taken on my application, my sin or a passport #.......

you need a doc and a sig and thats it, unless something has changed im not aware of,d

A citizen no, but yes you have to have access to our federal medical system... Because you don't need to provide a SIN means nothing at all, when you apply for most things a SIN is optional, all that is needed is your full name, date of birth and address, verifing your legal staus is very easy in this situation, all HC has to do is call your home provinces health authority with a full name and birth date and find out if your are ELIGIBLE for coverage... You don't need to provide a SIN to apply for a PAL lincense with the Canadian Firearms Centre to possess and aquire ristricted-firearms either but they still have all the info they need to run all the criminal/backround checks the need.

I think it is section 58-59 in the Narcotics act that states the circumstances under which exemption can be granted and it pertains to people legally in Canada... As I stated this just like other social programs in Canada are paid via taxes by everybody legally earning money in this country, that is what grants us access to these services as tax payers... Its just like an illegal immigrant cant apply for social assistance or any other federal or provincial government service, we are talking about a FEDERAL government program with all its beauracricies, that still has only slightly over 4000 exemptees, and just over 2000 that actually produce their own, in a country of over 30 million legally... No as I stated to gain access to federal health care you do not have to be a citizen, you have to be here legally, as in refugee, permanent resident, work/school visa, ect...
