Maybe the droop was because of the DO levels at 74...Might not be the best for the plant but if you can get those h2o temps down to 62 or 63 lights off might help slowdown the nasties...

Most problems I have seen in this system start with those rez temps....

Bigger chiller and sm-90 should solve the problem...

Ouch sucks about the rot bro. Doing my first run in RDWC right now and dodged a bullet (That could still come back around and bite me in the ass) thanks to having used Aquashield as a preventative. I think mine was algae however, pH was going up instead of down. My recirc pump was off for 12 hours, which is about half of my DO, got brown slime. (Buckets are about 1 step away from being completely light-tight..) Went from 5ml/gal Aquashield to 15ml/gal, a week later it's like it never happened.

If you go the bacteria route, any idea what you plan to use? I hear good things about Great White.

people are way too afraid of chlorine,I have never de-chlorinated water and never had any problems in hydro. I can understand it in organics but Im not growing a micro herd i want a mega plant

Figure out if you have pythium or 'brown algae' (not always brown).
The course of treatment for both will be different. Many of the people referring you to that long thread are thinking that thread is about pythium, it is about brown algae. If it is the algae then the consensus is physan 20 is the only way to kill it, then follow with beneficial bacteria. Avoid carbs and enzymes.

For pythium h2o2, zone, etc seem to do well.

You have so much oxygen and water flow, and your water temps were not that high I'm betting it is not pythium.

Yo krucnh sick of the root rot? Hope they are bouncing back.
lost 1 magic merlin already. today looks like ill lose the other.....

as i spent 5 hours today disinfecting everything, cleaning the system, someone hit the power pole down the street, no fucking power for 4 hours with no water in the system! had to sit there and use a hand sprayer to keep the root wet, i know it fucked shit up having the power out.........

before i went to the spot, spent $400 on zym's, bennies and sugars. probably wont need them, if the system is going to shit.

i see no root rot, no slime, no funky smells. roots look light brown though....ph is stable, the root rot is gone......

Damn Krunch, that sucks. I had the same problem in my first DWC run a few months ago. Almost all of the plants died cause I couldn't figure out what exactly was going on. My pH would go down like yours is and it took about a few days for everything to die no matter what I did. I was thinking that it was from too much CO2 and my air pumps were in the same room but I still don't know what happened to this day. I also thought it could have been from high water temps because my res hit 74 degrees F also but I'm still confused to what happened. I gave up on the DWC after that because I figured it's just a matter of time before it happens again and I'm not trying to lose a crop every 1-2 years and it's just a matter of time before my power goes out. I hope you figure it all out and it all works out for you. Good Luck!
