Can anyone tell me what this is?

Light burn? I have no idea, I'm swinging at air here. Never seen it on anything I've had before.

At first I thought it was kinda turning purple? Just went and looked back at it and its on the bud now rather than just the leaves =/

So uh. Diagnosis, anyone? Cut it off?

I grow in a vert set-up, and its only on the side TOWARDS the bulb, so I'm leading towards light burn without heat burn? My temps are in the high 70's-low 80's, and I can get 'em pretty damn close to the light 6"-8" no problem, so I'm thinking maybe I just put it in a little too close for too long?

First pic shows the problem cola with another one on the same plant. 2nd pic is up closer. Last pic shows it from the side, and you can see that's it's basically half of that bud. I don't think its mold? My humidity is kinda high... 50%-ish... and I run the AC at least during lights on, if not all the time.

yeah- get that bud off to slow spread. i'd get a dehumidifier and drop that RH, check other buds because the mold has spread to whole room by now. someone on another thread suggested cutting a small bud off mid cola on the other plants to get air into bud after rot has been found on other colas- don't know if it works

Ah well, I already cut that cola off, trimmed it off and it's drying.

So exactly how the hell can I lower my humidity without a dehumidifier? I can't afford one. Everyone tells me to make it colder, so I run the AC. I think my humidity has climbed since?

Then other places are telling me I need to RAISE my temps?

Hi, I'm fairly new to growing, but I know that AC's can hold mold inside them, and of course, it blows the spores around the room. Not sure if that's your case, but thought I'd mention it.
Really sorry to see that... mold is sucha bitch, I know. Last crop I had leaf mold and spent most of my time trying to get rid of it... washing down the room with bleach/water, spraying the plants with every single organic spray I could find, etc... never did get rid of it completely, but managed to save most of the flowers. It all started by ONE OG Kush clone that harbored mold but I didn't see it. It was my first grow and my paid "consultant" advised me to put it closer to the exhaust fan so the mold spores wouldn't affect the other plants! NOW I know to get rid of the plant or quarantine it during treament. So, anyway... we grow and learn!

that is mold......and you dont need high lvls of humidity to get this ,just a plain decaying leave can cause this.....so next time ,watch out that yellowing leaves dont touch bud :2cents:

SmokinErb-- When you cut the bud off, was it all mushy? Did you crack it open and see grey, fuzzy mold?

An a/c unit on it's own should keep your humidity down, but that doesn't mean you can't get bud rot. But bud rot is just that, ROT caused by mold. So is your bud moldy, or crispy?
