He used the same size plywood for the entire box. The size of the framing studs is what differs, and that's for the base and fan attachments.

the bathroom fans do just fine. do the math to see what your carbon scrubber needs as far as cfm goes and if you need to add a 3rd fan, then add one...no biggie...

I also now duct tape a purple filtrete [better even than the red filtrete] filter over the intake.

Tick went with dual 400s under batwings inside the cabinet. I have trouble with climate control so I went with two air cooled 600s on top of the cabinet. I figure the lumen loss from the greater distance from the plants is offset by the extra wattage. Since neither the ballasts nor the bulbs are in the cabinet, I have zero troubles with heat.

great tutorial, this one was an excellent save! Thanks pontiac!

i have a few questions on this... tick says the materials are 5/8" plywood and 1/2" plywood... my question is, which size is used with which parts of the box? after reading it/looking it all over again, my best assumption is that he used 3/8" plywood for the base, all sides and the top... and he used the 1/2" plywood for the smaller sections like the bottom lip, top front, and peices to mount the lights... is this assumption correct?

also, i think that i like the use of bathroom style fans, it looks like they will be much easier to mount than others, not to mention cheaper... but how efficent will this be? thanks for any input

sorta makes you wonder. Everyone says that 400w is too small for 4' wide space, but Tick was doing it. The small cab being 2.5 deep and 4 wide, and yield 15oz?? that goes against the grain of what todays growers say is doable... makes ME wonder.

Hate to resurrect an old thread but does anyone have the recipe for Tick's soil mix?
I used it with great success years ago after reading it on OG and have since lost it. He had a thread about the soil mix and used large plastic trash bags to mix the ingredients together.

fantastic stuff!
Thanks for posting this. I never would have thought that bathroom fans would have the juice to exhaust hid lighting.

Ah the good ol' days when bandwidth on ones dial-up connection was an issue with many photos in a thread. 2006, Sure this qualifies as close to ancient text, but the information is still relevent.
