n00b cabinet experiment

To whom it may concern,

I am just starting my 2nd grow attempt with this cabinet. It contains a space of 12" X 8" X 21" below the lights (24" height total based off Dr. BudGreenGenes). I have a 2 gal smart pot and 2 26w 6500k and 1 42w 2700k. I'm growing a cross of blueberry and bubba kush (blubba). Any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated!

Today marks the end of the first week of flowering. I'm wondering if i should top this to help it grow horizontally and also more evenly. Where should I top it if I do? Also for lighting, is 94 watts enough for a full cycle?

Thanks

I decided that it would be too drastic to cut the top off this so I'm just going to let it do its thing and hopefully it doesn't get too tall for the cabinet. But I'm still wondering if anyone thinks 94 watts is enough light for a full cycle in this box. Let me know.

cut the top or tie it down or do both because it WILL get too big.

Nice setup btw

So, following Fuzz420's advice, I tied her down. That freed up about 3 inches of height so I think that it may be adequate for the box...I hope. There's about 7.5" of books stacked below the pot, so if she doesn't grow more than 9 inches taller she should be fine. How tall do indicas grow after they're in flowering if they started at 3 inches?

Maybe try spiralling the lady around the pot as she grows upwards for best use of space - so she'll end up looking like a spring...?? (This is only a suggestion i'm more noob than you :whee: )

generally you can expect the plant too double in size, if its an indica, sativa's usually go about 3 too 4 times the size!

as for tying her down, just let her tell you how to tie her down. she knows what she wants, you just gotta listen bro :D

if u got any more questions just ask man. send me a PM if i dont reply on here. im rather forgetfull :p

She seems to have responded well to the bending, I moved her a little closer to the light, a couple of fan leaf tips are too close, but I don't think it will be a problem. I noticed all the nodes were much more horizontal and light is getting to the bottom nodes much stronger.

Is 96w enough or should I squeeze in more?

What a difference a day makes.

Can you cool more wattage? If you can successfully cool more watts then go for it

She is an amazing plant.

I think I could cool more if I separate the lights from the space with glass, but I think it may degrade the quality of herb from the lack of UV stress (I heard that using glass will cause less oils and resins to be produced). If that's not true however I think I can get at least a couple more 26 watts in there. Although then this grow would be getting pretty expensive.

Is 96 watts an acceptable amount for one plant? I heard a while back that 100w of hps is ideal for one plant, is 100w of CFL's an equivalent?

Looks awesome bro!! tribe is right, just keep bending her around the pot.. the buds look really cool like that!!
great work!!
if you can put more lights in, then do it for sure...more lights make happier plants!! just have good intake and exhaust and you'll be fine
take care

looks good, maybe use some soda cans to make reflectors to help direct more of the light downwards, other than that looks good!

Haha I'll get working on some soda can reflectors today, good idea.

I don't know if it will be necessary to tie her around any more, it's not really growing unevenly, the top isn't growing taller than the other nodes.

I don't think I'll be adding more wattage right now, I'm willing to see where this setup takes her.

Here's an update:

I added some soda can reflectors and I think it makes a pretty big difference. Don't have a meter though so I'm not sure how much the lumens actually increased.
