What's new

the making of : my very own veg and flower space, in a box

due to circumstances beyond my control, i have to take down my 3 lamp set up. the room is needed as a guest room this summer :(

this means i will need to make a new veg box and a nice flowering box in my den :joint:

so i'll have all the challenges like noise and more noise to think about as i plan the final structure, specially of the 2x600 watt flowering space. i will be using the same exhaust and carbon filter i used for 3 lamps. if i can make it fit, i'll be using a muffler as well, it's been laying around for ages. the ducting will be that sono dec stuff.

the plan is to make the box for flowering 210cm by 110, i plan to make the table as low as possible. just enough room to fit the tank under the table. i want the upwards space as free as possible for those plants. i plan to veg a bit longer and reduce the plant count compared to my usual style, hence the plants will be needing all the head room they can get. also for growing out those really stretchy sat dom ladies. the plants will be in pots of coco spread around on the tables, fed by drip feed. will recirculate the nutrient solution.

anyway to begin with nothing out of the ordinary, like all things we have to begin at the beginning. as my sd x cj ladies are still finishing off in the flower room, i can't start on the new flower box yet. so far just making the veg box, here the first few pics. so far all i bought was the small exhaust fan and the new 200 watt cfl lamp.

well that's as far as i got, have already cut the wood to make the table frame. still need to cut the actual gray water proof table piece to fit. then a curtain with a Velcro seal, until i find a better solution, like a roll down door or so.

just in case you are interested the first plants that will grow in there are frisian dew outdoor indica, i want to pre grow them a bit before i put them in the wild. at the same time as those, i will plant another 15 of my sd x cj seeds, this time to try find a keeper or 2, but that will be another thread. this will be about the building and setup, till the plants are in and prospering.

nice i lke the diy inventions. i too want to make a smaller room for mothers and clones

yeah it's definitely cool to have a place for moms and this type of thing takes a matter of hours only to build. i'd never lay out thousands for a tent, even if they are very nice, the price just isn't worth it, when you can build it your self so much more stable if you want to.

anyway here you can see the table top i'm talking about, also a couple of snap shots of my out door project to be.

as you can see the seeds are a bit unripe looking, was worried if they would pop.

using jiffy pots to pop themas they are supposed to go out door

well my worries about the seeds being so light colored were not warranted. as it happens every single one of them has popped. and all pretty much at the same time. not bad. never used those jiffy things before but they work just as well as rw cubes it seems.

next part of this thread will be about making the flowering box. first i have to take apart the old setup, so i can see how much wood if any i need to get. i will probably order some white coated, pre cut press board to use for walls, i think i should have enough 5 by 5 posts for a strong frame.

of course i will also post pics as soon as i need to set up a tank and watering system in the veg space. should be in the next days. as i will only ever have 15 plants max in there i will use a cheapo fountain pump of the better kind and some bendy hose and drip lines. for a kinda improvised drip irrigation setup.

peace out for now

very nice box you have built ..

great for stability and price .. but the tents are really nice when you have relocate more or less often ;)

ok a bit late but here goes

ok a bit late but here goes

well here we finally are again, sorry to take so long but things just dragged out and i didn't finish till a few days back.....

my flowering box is also pretty much finished. plants have been in there vegging a bit before i turn to 12/12, about 4 days now, fine tuning the climate with a heater that runs during lights off.

so first off i put wooden beams along the ceiling and the walls making a frame. a few posts and cut to order press board and hey presto box done. just some sawing holes for the ducting.

here we have my window box, as you can see i used some curtain to camouflage the vent holes.

here we have the window box closed up and the ducts hooked up. as you can see i had one wall duct ring not enough and had to improvise, lol. i used duct tape to make a place to attach the whole thing to the board with some screws, as the tape alone will never hold up long. my grow supplier had no more of those pieces so i used the 3 i had for the exhaust. will also add a proper wall connector as soon as my guy gets them in again.

my ventilation set up, or the beginnings of it :)

putting the hinges on and attaching the door

cutting ventilation holes in a wall piece

hooking up the sonodec insulated ducting. it's a lot more expensive then the simple ducts, but the noise reduction is so great that it is well worth it.
picture.php

very simple hook up on my posts

here we have the timer and power source for up to 3 lamps. only 2x600watts in there though. will end up attaching that electrical box to the wall.

i will post up pics again when all the last fine tuning is done. for now wish me luck with my clones, day 9 today, i hope they finally have roots soon as i want to switch the mother plants to flowering asap. for the latest on my own cross of SourDiese x CaseyJones check the link in my sig.

peace out for now
