How would you build this?

Hi there!

I'm new in this hydro business so I need your help.
I have two containers, 25 x 35 x 14 inches, about 42 gallons.
How would you build and ebb and flow system out from these?
How big pump would I need to run it efficiently and how many plants would you fit in it?

...and so many questions after these ones:)

I wouldnt put plants in those containers. Those containers would be good reses to hold your nutrients.

I would buy a couple tables or build some from plywood and pond liner, then use the containers for a res. Pump size would depend on table size but probably around 500GPH.

You may be able to DWC in those but you asked about E&F

Thanks fireman and dtfsux

I've checked this forum yes, did not find any with these kind of containers. And like dtfsux pointes he would not even put plants on those ones. This kind of information I'm after aswell, what would be the best option and still how?

Already have a DWC.

Anyone? Thank you.

Yes, I already build an DWC system and I want to try ebb&flow aswell. Two different systems to see wich I prefer.

Dancer,

You could use these containers as your reservoir as mentioned above (do you have lids?)...You don't say what wattage light you are using or provide us with any information. If you have a 1,000 watter, 2x600w or 2x400w you could build a table above these reservoirs and add 2 3'x3' trays to hold your plants. 2 gallon pots in ebb and flow are nice and in a 3x3 I think you can fit about 15. Hope this helps.

Sorry that I was not more specific. My light are 600w HPS, as many as I want to and yes I have lids.I would really much like to use these in an ebb&flow system nut dont know how to make these the most efficient ones. For some reason it facinates me the most. About them trays, how high the sides should be and also I heard that it's better that you dont put pots, just the growing medium and the plants. Any thoughts?

i'd cut 2 plant sites in each lid fill with nutes add a airstone and grow DWC. tho i'd fill them up 1st outside and see how sturdy they are 1st. Dont want em cracking and flooding your area ;)

those containers are just not practical for E&F. Sure you can figre something out, but its not efficient.

You can DWC, soil, hempy bucket or even aero in those.

Its like trying to use pliers to remove a screw. It can be done, but not the best choice.

You could treat those containers like a bucket style of E&F and stick multiple plants in there, but you would need a pretty big res. It just isnt practical or efficient.

Build a couple 4x4 tables out of plywood, and pond liner. Then you can use those containers as reses.

Thankd dtfsux

Well I suppose I use them as res. then.
Maybe the other one as hempy or just soil.
So now I need a tray...
