I was just gifted a Willie Nelson cutting. I've never grown or smoked it. The leaves are long, slender, and beautiful. She rooted super easy and is growing VERY vigorously. Anyone care to share their experiences with this sativa strain? How is the high? How long does she go?

i smoked willie the year it won the cannabis cup. it is definitely a sativa heady buzz but not too racy at all. really cleared things up in the head and real smooth comedown. it was my second pick for the cup that year behind the silver haze. willie was really nice herb and it was tasty as well. would love to find some seeds of reefermans but have no clue where he is at these days. nothing but love. peace and smoke.

Vietnamese black x highland nepalese. Reeferman said Willie smoked some and he sold him the whole crop and named it after him. Don't know if that is true but I do know it is a great strain with a great buzzzzzzzzzzzz

I grew out a Willie Nelson hybrid about a year ago. I believe this is the LONGEST flowering strain I have ever grown. I believe it was about 13-15 weeks of flowering until harvest. Good smoke, but I almost ran out of time in my zoning area. 13-15 weeks of flower, and things were starting to get chilly. The plants get massive. I'm not an experienced sativa grower, but I believe this was the largest growing plant I've ever grown, and as well as the longest flowering I've grown.

If you are growing outdoors, make sure you are zoned for the long flowering time! You don't want a cold snap to come and bite you before harvest.

Good smoke though, and a really great yield. A very ''sativa'' high. The hybrid I grew was very heady.

a brief description from my summer of 06 trip

taste = different somwat dark / spicy /medicinal /this herb was unique as my taste/aromas description was hard to describe very specifically

high = one hit wonder /relaxed but energetic/made my chinese /very heady /twisted feeling

if you kno my flavor im not easy to please ,i lov a above the clouds haze as much as a hit by a mac truck affie ,but imo the reef strains available durin that trip were among the best offered .

Exactly what I experienced. I had a few plants go 15 weeks, and they still had room to go. I harvested the majority of them between 13-15 weeks. Ended up getting them with mostly cloudy trichs.

Monster sized plants.. if you could top them, you could make a hedge out of those monsters. Hell.. even without topping I bet you could make some hedges. Haha! :tiphat:

Grew willie out in '09. Still not really 100% sure it was willie as reeferman was...how should I say this...having difficulties with his operation at the time, lol.

Anyway, GREAT sativa smoke. High was clear, all in the head with no paranoia. I would not recommend drinking alcohol with it though. For me at least, alcohol ruined the high and put me down. Taste was spicy, cedar-ish, with a touch of fruitiness to it. I think I flowered my willie phenos for about 14 weeks, give or take. I still have some seeds and will be running them again someday.

Was gifted some of Reeferman's Willie Nelson f2's from Bachus quite a long time ago now, bred f3's of them but never bothered with them again after noticing how rubbery their stems were. I had them outdoors and once they started to bud up, one average normal wind came along and bent their main stems right over so that the buds were pretty much scraping on the ground. That was pretty wierd seeing the diameter of the main stems. Never seen such rubbery stems on a strain in my experience ever...literally, like as if they were made of rubber, not wood at all like they should have been. They weren't the biggest of plants due to the fact I started them late but never seen plants of that size stem bend so readily...yeeeeek!!!
Had to stake those beasts up but not due to excessive weight of bud so much as flexi stems....
I determined from that experience not to ever cross them with anything else I had for fear of rubber stems perpetuating in their offspring...

however, they did yield good and I loved the smoke!

I had some willie genes. Used to love reeferman stuff until I found out he is racist, white supremecist asshole.
