So get this, "The First 48" was there filming for their show and they have footage that shows the cops are lying about how it happened.

DETROIT - An attorney for the family of a 7-year-old girl slain during a weekend raid at their Detroit home says video footage contradicts the police department's version of events.

Geoffrey Fieger said Monday that footage shot by the A&E crime-reality show "The First 48" shows that police fired into the home at least once after lobbing a flash grenade through a window.

He says that contradicts the police department's explanation that an officer's gun fired during a confrontation with a resident inside the home. Seven-year-old Aiyana Jones was shot in the neck and died."

Had not seen that, he will burn for that, and good riddance.

This really is just simply unbelievable....I can't believe this is going on....I still don't know what the proper reaction is.

I just want to lead a protest and a march and a sit out until these cops are placed behind bars like the criminals they are...the MURDERS they are...

The shooter and accessories need to be jailed, not even cops are above the LAW. I hope her family have the strength that's needed to go all the way to see it happens. Hopefully people will gather round them and offer support, both morally and legally. These cops get a piece of paper with a judges name on and take it for a mandate to let of some rounds. It's time we stopped giving egotistical maniacs tools which can be used to take away life with such little emotional attachment. RIP Aiyana :ying:

But think about what that means, and how much more fucked up it makes this situation.

It was an officer who indiscriminately fires from outside the house, hits and kills the girl, and then they all make up this story of the gun discharging in a struggle with a women in the house, basically trying to lay at least part of the blame on her for what happened.
They can't even admit what really happened, everyone involved should face charges for this.

i grew up in a east coast city that had quite a good run as the murder capital for many years...
the life expectancy of a black male born in my city was 21...let me repeat that...21(still a baby, imho)
all i can say is this type of shit happens way more than it gets reported by mass media,
plenty of times i remember hearing about kids getin shot by babylon, but seldom did i se it on TV.
and plenty of times i have seen life lost with my own two eyes, not to hear a thing on the news,
just another day in da hood really... life is cheap here, and its nothin new.

after a maddening anger subsides...i believe i have to pray for those murderers...
i have commited many sins...but i pity the fool that faces the Most High with the blood of one of his children on their hands...there is no hiding place for them..

may the family be blessed with the strength to carry on...its all they can do

Wise words cosmicparticle!

WOW what a shame for that lil girl! Shit, it is news to me that the po-po are using flash bangs period. Obviously if they're going into a factory unit full of gun toting diamond thieves or something of that nature then I would expect it, but a residential street for a homicide 'suspect'??? What next?

Two prominent criminal defense attorneys said they were unaware of past instances when Detroit police used flash grenades in raids when children were possibly present.

"That's a new one," said Detroit lawyer Corbett Edge O'Meara. "That does seem to be a pretty extreme measure. It doesn't surprise me that the police had no concern whether they were endangering the lives of children when they made this raid."

Attorney Marvin Barnett was more blunt: "I've never heard that before in my entire career, that you've thrown a flash bomb in a house unless you've got an armed suspect and you know there is nobody else in the house."

"I'd like to know who gave the order to do that," Barnett said.

Crazy world!

just more proof of what the us police is coming to, they regard what they refer to as civilians as their slaves, to be treated how ever the fuck they feel like. they believe them selves to be gods, when they are actually devils, worse they are cowardly devils. imagine shooting into a house blindly, that officer needs his ass locked up for at least negligent endangerment of civilians and homicide. but i bet all he gets is a tap on the wrist, like suspension with pay or some equally ludicrous punishment. by the time it comes out what he gets, the general public will have long forgotten and be distracted with the latest thing.

When is the last time you heard of a FBI or ATF raid being as screwed up as this fiasco? After WACO and Ruby Ridge they all but abandoned their cowboy tactics.
If they know where you are and innocents and children are near they just watch and wait for you to come out or the area is clear. To damn simple for swat teams who wont get to use all their toys. Especially if the are TV stars and have a production schedule to keep.
A&E is as responsible for this girls death as the shooter himself. I have written A&E and their sponsors and told them I will boycott their products until all cop reality shows are removed from the programing. Also we must write our federal representatives and demand that the Senate investigates how TV shows incorporate and produce police shows.
Obama just gave cities more money for swat and drug interdiction. A reward for the good work they do. Peace

I have to disagree, I think "The First 48" is one of the best shows on TV today, I've been watching it for years, it give you priceless insight into how the police conduct investigations and interviews.
The first 48 is not putting anyone up to anything, don't make excuses for these lowlife Rambo wanna be, gun happy MF's
The cops tried to lie about what happened and blame it on a struggle with a woman inside the house, if not for the first 48 being there that lie would have stuck.
Your well meaning, but a bit confused about who the real bad guys are here.

I'm with you here. They definitely would've had an easier time covering the truth without the cameras.

I don't think it's totally safe to let the TV show off the hook. It's possible the officer in question would've used different tactics if he didn't know that he was being filmed. It might very well have been his desire to look cool on TV that caused him to enter in such a flashy and destructive way. It could've even been suggested to him by one of the show's producers. "Hey, officer green, we really need a good action shot here. Give us something worth shooting."

I wouldn't let them off the hook just yet.

I just saw on the news that her family has filed lawsuits on the city, county, state and feds for her getting killed, the suit are premised on her civil rights being violated, along with sloppy cop work. Peace.

http://www.democracynow.org/ Wed the 19th show is the one you want.

Looks like the bomb they tossed in was burning the little girl and I would assume she was moving about in some way and he shot her.

She was on the couch sleeping.

The last moments of a young life.. Snuggling up on Grand Ma;'s Couch. Could there be a safer place in the Universe?

I just hope she had Ice Cream that day and was happy as she slept because she was being burned by a bomb and then experienced a bullet for her efforts to save herself from what I can tell.

They arrested the Grandmother, booked and processed her for hours and then mysteriously let her go. No grief counsellor no responsibility to the community. Arrest her is the way they handled the family.

This time they are so wrong. I Agree they should come forward right away and spare everyone the torment of fighting this in court.

We need our Police to admit their wrong doing in public and do it NOW!

What gets me is now this seems like it took several minutes to happen.

I doubt Swat ACTIONS ARE THAT SLOW.

There had to be confusion and responsible Adults would be rushing to be responsible. The Grand Ma was well within her rights In my opinion, to confront whatever threat was there and with her life where it comes to children I am sure.

Hey if someone tosses a bomb into my house I am damn well not trained to respond in a predictable way. I think we can exempt most of us and include 7 year old girls in the rank of un-skilled in proper Swat Raid behaviour. They don't offer training till one is 8 anyway.

So where do I go to be trained in Swat Style raids so i can avoid causing a mistake...

We do know a Man is Tall and a Child is small and yet this Target was shot to death with one round.

Did that Man have time to acquire a target or did he react? I find the idea that Grand Ma pulled the trigger to be a sorry excuse.

This happened in Seconds I would assume

Do you think maybe the girl might be running to the police for help in some way and he shot her because she was moving?

This Swat style is bad. Poor family.. Is there a way to donate?

I sure would like to have my flowers delivered.
