can you explain? how do you keep the product in contact with butane for 15 minutes? and how does ethanol come in to it? do you have a foaf device to make oil? why would you use both butane and ethanol?

BHO made from buds that have cured for a long time will make dark oil. Also grinding up the buds will produce dark oil. I just made a bunch. I used 4oz of SLH,SSH,SS these buds cured for 4 months. I got 30g from 4 oz and all of the oil was brown, black and it never got hard. I also should have used 1.5 cans for each 22g I ran.

The best oil imo is from fresh buds no cure. It will be just like honey and should turn hard. There are some strains that will not harden

I find the best oil I make comes from only using 1/2 a can per 22g. i fill up my okief extractor II and use one can to run both tubes. I yield 3-4g of oil per can of butane. turns to candy every time.

Firstly I used ethanol as a secondary solvent after butane extraction just to remove bubbles and other garbage from BHO via filtration of a solution.
Then later I found that this two stage extraction is a commonly used technology for Fragrance extraction.
Welcome to read the detailed description and expanation in the topic "Absolute Amber ..." in my signature.

i see, should have thought of the secondary extraction i suppose. but tell me how worth while is the secondary extraction in terms of quality gained? seems the bho made stuff is already incredibly clean when done right. and how much extract is reduced by the ethanol extraction step?

what about the 15 minutes contact of the butane with the product?

interesting subject.

peace and :joint:

edited to add, checked your link, that clears things up nicely. cheers

This is really what I've been waiting for, a batch of show-quality BHO. Got a new dish too, made by a local blower in Tennessee named Yakum. It's actually one of his earlier pieces, his work is a lot sicker now. Also rockin' my HMK curve, the hit is lossless now that I have my technique down. I'm in hash oil heaven.
