I was wondering the same thing. I was told Mr Nice Shit is the way to go, but I missed the only drop I've seen of it in quite some time. I just picked up some homegrown fantaseeds skunk #1 but, I assume that has the same watered down traits that everyone complains about.

the high from fantaseeds sk #1 is great, but it's hard to find a nice growing phenotype in there.. :2cents:
I didn't had the occasion to grow other skunks #1, but from fantaseeds skunk and anything else I'll pick anything else.. :D

Yo...

As dar as I know, ther authentic is the one from Flying Dutchmen and Seedsman. Theyre exactly the same genetics and varieties too just diff names... the classic SK1 aka the pure! Then you have the Sensi and Dutch Passion's one... which is slighlty different (thaiXcolombianXafgan instead of mexicanXcolombianXafgan).

Thats all I know... lets wait for the conoisseurs too!

Only time I ever tried Skunk #1 was Seedsman - unfortunately only a couple of seeds out of 10 germed and the only female I got had so many balls that I took her down.
I've heard good things about Seedsman Skunk #1 from other sources though and seen some nice grows.
Although Nirvana Seeds has a bad reputation among some people they're one of the places that have had Skunk #1 on the menu for a very long time - perhaps also worth a try?

recently ran a 10 pack of seedsman skunk#1

7/10 female
1 herm'd from the get-go
2 showed a tendency for (what seems to be) non-viable, week 8-9 nanners

of the 5 kept and ran more than once, 1 has way higher potency/trich coverage/you-smoke-this-you-say-duhhhhh-for-an-hour than the others, yet is rather spindly and non-yieldish. 3 are fairly uniform, plump well, and still carry that skunk stone - 12-16 inch solid colas w/ very little veg time, single stem. 1 grew like a christmas tree and looked as if it would have been a yield monster if given the right attention.

i don't really care for the buzz*, so while i've got a couple of mom's back-burnered, i haven't ran a monocrop of 1 cut or anything - but the growth characteristics seemed like it was made for SOG.

so...i found several that reminded me exactly of what i knew of as SK#1 in the early 90s (what i knew of as SK1 in the 80s, less so - but who's to say my memory is accurate, or what i knew of as sk1 then actually was) in a pack of seedsman - hope that helps

*wasn't a matter of 'it didn't stone me', just isn't a stone i particularly dig - other folks loved it.

i have been mulling a skunk grow for a while, and am also a bit confused on what is what
but DP seems to list the genetics as mexicanXcolombianXafgan
not sure what Sensi's skunk genetics is

late flowering skunk#1 (TFD), harvested at 14 weeks, somehow i think they mislabeled the new blue packs cause this is something quite different from the skunk's profile :)

I grew TFD SK#1 and it looked just like what KJ posted. It was not a road kill skunk, but rather a sweeter skunk. I got freebies from the boo of Sams Sk#1 and I didn't have very good luck. I throw that up to being the freebies FWIW.

Just to add... I grew TFD's Pure for my first grow... Over ferted, and fungus gnats rather bad, but also very similar to KJ's plant... A hint of a sweet lime flavour. Not a great high, but I put that down to my growing.

My friend grew one from the same pack, (probably from around 2002) And it looked a real fat Affie type, MASSIVE fans, and really fat ball like flat topped buds... His was still going at 11 weeks when he chopped it early.... Mine was chopped early at about 8 and a half weeks.. Probably needed ten with all the stress I gave it.

Thinking of a skunk #1 grow myself actually! Try and do it justice this time.....
