Ever Seen Anyone Arrested For Being Stoned?

It occurred to me a while back that I have never heard of anyone arrested simply for being high on pot.

I know that possession, growing and selling have legal consequences.

I have never heard of a law that addresses simply being stoned.

I know of many instances of DUI charges related to alcohol, but not cannabis. I know that public drunkeness can be prosecuted.

I just find it strange that possession of cannabis is illegal, but possession of alcohol is not. Public drunkeness often results in arrest, but not being stoned in public.

If you were just stoned as fuck in a public place, would anyone really care? That is, if you have no illegal substance or paraphanalia?

What are your thoughts?

I do it all the time (get stoned as fuck and go out in public)...i dont give a shit what other ppl think I feel great ...I dont give a fuck if anyone cares...if a cop tried to to harass me for being high, I would laugh at him and then walk away

Nowhere in our laws does it say its illegal to be stoned. Possession is illegal, but its not illegal to smoke pot. Kinda screwy huh.. However, I know of a few ppl that have been pulled over while driving and were issued DUI's bc they had been smoking and the trooper felt they were too impaired to drive.

I go out high all the time. Never heard of someone getting busted for being high (besides driving).

I believe in a DUI situation they can probably hold the metabolites against you if you give them a sample in the first place. But I haven't heard of anyone being charged with possesion of metabolites in there system unless they were on probation or parole. Although I am sure someday some pig somewhere will charge some fool who thought honesty to popo was the best policy and then they will have a statement, conviction and later a precedent case to hang other out on. In my state protection for the patient is written into the law against such an occasion. Good luck to all

yeah ive seen many of my friends get busted while high. but they were driving... never seen anyone get busted just because they were high. im sure it happens a lot though. i dont doubt that one second.

Yeah, I have. Myself. In high school.

A friend and I used to get blazed every morning in junior year, and then get to school for 2nd period (we both didn't have a first).

We get to school a bit late, so I have to park in the parking lot rather than in my normal off school property spot. We hurry in to try to get in on time, and when we walk into the classroom and take our seats, the teacher asks us if we hit a skunk on the way.

Seriously.

So, I contain myself, but my buddy just starts cracking up uncontrollably, with his head down on the desk trying to hide himself laughing. Then I lose it. I couldn't help but laugh.

Then it all kinda gets shook off, we continue into class. Everything seems cool until the school security guard comes in and summons both of us. We go to the office. She puts me in the school cop's office, and my friend in the vice principal's office. The cop acts all cool, then all the sudden breaks into damn near interrogation mode demanding where my car is. I tell him we walked to school, because I COULDN'T remember if there was any herb in my car. I just keep denying, meanwhile I can hear my friend in the office next door screaming, "I FORGOT MY ALLERGY MEDICINE! I'M NOT STONED!" Then after a while of both of us denying the cop tells me that I'm under arrest, basically for being stoned, and the fact he KNEW I had herb. He cuffs me, takes me out to the cop car. By this time I thought I was just going to go back to class, they couldn't find anything anyway. All the sudden over the cops radio, the security guard comes on and tells the pig that they found my car. WTF. Apparently they knew what I drove, although I'd only had the car a fucking week or so.

But it turns out I'd left a couple roaches in my car's ashtray from the night before. .4 grams of MJ. They also found a steak knife under my seat that had a bunch of pizza crap all over because I'd used it to cut up a small pizza a few days ago on my way to school. Now that I think about that, that's kinda weird. Anyway.

I get a possession charge, and weapon on school property charge, and all kinds of other little school offense for not cooperating and being a prick.

Turn's out the T/A in that class ratted us out fully. Even though the teacher obviously had a suspicion, she asked him what he thought and he told her we were obviously stoned, did it everyday, and eventually told the cop what car I drove. It was my ex gf's friend's brother. Damn rat.

But yeah, I got arrested just for being stoned. If this wasn't at school it wouldn't have happened. But up until they found anything I shouldn't have been under arrest. He slapped the cuffs and was taking me away and that's when he found out about the rat.

So it might not count since they did find mj, but still. A bunch of bullshit that was. My own fault in many ways.

They made a big example out of me, saying that MJ ruined my life and my sports career. Although getting snitched on made me get expelled for 90 days when they let me back. Which ruined the sports. Oh well. They also said they saw my downfall from the beginning of the year when I "must have started." But I'd been puffin regularly since 8th grade.
My grades were fine, was doing good in sports. I just got caught. Oh good times.

Phew... that was a ramble. That was supposed to be the short version, sorry.

Interesting, Holdin sounds like you received a possession charge.

I can understand DUI and possession, but I have never heard of a law for simply being stoned.

So I guess my point is very simple, never give anyone the opportunity to find your stash and avoid DUI.

Also if you follow rule #1 and stay cool you most likely would never have a reason to be the object of leo's concern.

I think most of those who do get busted kind of bring it on themselves through careless behavior and letting their guard down.

In Amsterdam, I asked cops for directions even tho I knew where I was.. Only because I was really high and wanted to interact with a cop while high.. I wont try that shit in the states tho, I see cop I look the other way an ignore him 100%... And remember, I cannot stress this enough.. Freeze means RUN!!!!
