HELP! Powdery Mildew! To chop or not to chop :-(

Well poo on me.. I have frickin powdery mildew starting to show up at day 42 of flower. I am starting to stress bad. Luckily I coaught the PM quick enough to hopefully keep it at bay, BUT I am leaving at the end of the month for 6 days with no one to really tend to the garden while I am gone. I know that PM can spread and kill a crop within a couple days, so this is what is worrying me so much. The ladies will be at day 55 flower right before I leave on vacation, so I am wondering if I should just chop em all down, or chance leaving the ladies unattended for 6 days.. They are on a drip feed system so I wasn't worried about leaving them really until now.. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! Any advice is MUcH appreciated..

That´s a hard one mate.
On late flowering PM can spread like a wild fire and when inside the buds gets prety hard to clean it afterwards. I always use any weed with OM signs on my extractions.
If your plants are healthy i dont think that PM would kill them, been fighting with PM for almost a year now and never had any plant killed only the ocasional decay to bud rot on the denser colas.
But in other hand to leave the plants unattended for 6days on late flowering while the PM attacks...i´m not sure if i would enjoy my 6days out ;)
All the best for your fight against PM

The humidity ranges from 30%-45% from day and night.. The temp ranges from 64-74 from night and day... I really don't want my buds covered with PM when I get back from the trip. Most of the plants trichs are 50/50 cloudy/clear.. Do you guys think if I start them on a hard flush they will start to ripen up a little quicker?? Thanks guys!

CHOP!!! enough said... 1 of my big commercial ops had 40 of the best looking vegging plants ive seen... KONG, G13, SOUR APPLE AK, also had 1 grapefruit haze (6ft tall) romy kiss (6ft tall) and a flo (6t tall) well i went in there one day getting ready to move everything to a new room for flowering... i had to check one more time for any sort of contamination (bugs, mildew) and i found a single spot on a leaf... thats all it took.. all in the trash!! so if you ask me... chop them!! its a battle i dont ever want to fight. i beleive once signs of mildew is visible its in the plants for 7 to 10 days. even in clones... not worth it.. get some seeds!

Don't chop. Spray a fungicide and get good coverage. Check in a day or 2 and if need be, spray again. Bump up your fans so the flowers will dry out and you will be OK.

If not, then you can chop. I'd try to finish the grow first.

Thanks grapeman... I am definitely not chopping till atleast the day before I leave for the trip.. I figured it out and they will all be 57 days. The way i see it is, it's safer to cut em a week early then risk a whole crop infestation of this shit. I am going to start flushing them tonight and hope they ripen up a little quicker for me.. Wish me luck!

I disagree bro, too late to spray fungicides, they'll persist in the buds and will taste bad.

At this late stage you're stuck with hydrogen peroxide, can't even use alcohol. I wouldn't use sulfur this late either. I can't remember the dose but google peroxide powdery mildew.

Next time get some Eagle20, good fungicide and after 2 applications the plants are pretty well protected for about 3-4 weeks. Time your last spray a few weeks before chop (I do my last Floramite SC spray at this time too) and the girls are safe from those 2 nasties til chop, and have plenty of time to break down so you don't taste them. Both are expensive chems but have very low application rates, and have saved me multiple crops.

Thanks Lazyman, I really appreciate it.. The local grow shop just starting carrying Greencure so I picked some of that up today.. The plants are now at 47 days.. I am going to be spraying with Greencure before lights out... Should I spray a few days before chop as well?? To help fight off anything while drying..

No, you probably don't want to spray anything that late, as it can impact taste in the final product. I would do it now, and again in a couple days and that's it.

After using the Zone/Penetrator, that is what I would use. Spray now, and right before you leave, and they will be good for a week or so. I have sprayed straight onto the nugs, some of the hairs browned up, but it does a number on the PM, you just need to stay on it.
Plants don't Love it, but it's better than chopping or using something nasty late in flower.

That is where I am stumped... Do I take the chance and trust the Greencure to take care of the job for 6 days while I am gone? Or do I play it safe and chop at 57 days? The Witches Weeds have started showing a couple amber trichs on the leaves so I think they will be just about ripe come come 57 days. A few of the Lemon Larry phenos I think will be good to go.. Hummmmm... What to do, what to do....

If they're not done they're not done.
Greencure- I use it up to chop time. Spray them every nook and cranny and you might make it ok. Chop what's close enough first.

Tony - Don't stress & don't spray anything nasty on your plants!

First of all, get the fans in there!

Second, dilute some milk 50/50 & lightly spray when lites come on. Wait 3 days, then spray with 1 tsp. baking soda to 1 quart of water.

Continue alternating every 3 days until you leave. The alkaline environment you create will not support the PM.

Be sure the get the bottom of the leaves.
