AP: US Drug War Has Met None of its Goals

An interesting and enlightening AP article. Several pages long, and 100% worth the read:

AP said:
MEXICO CITY – After 40 years, the United States' war on drugs has cost $1 trillion and hundreds of thousands of lives, and for what? Drug use is rampant and violence even more brutal and widespread.

Even U.S. drug czar Gil Kerlikowske concedes the strategy hasn't worked.

"In the grand scheme, it has not been successful," Kerlikowske told The Associated Press. "Forty years later, the concern about drugs and drug problems is, if anything, magnified, intensified."

Take a look at the full article, including some insightful stuff regarding MJ: US Drug War Has Met None of its Goals

I can't stand John Walters.

He says:
"To say that all the things that have been done in the war on drugs haven't made any difference is ridiculous," Walters said. "It destroys everything we've done. It's saying all the people involved in law enforcment, treatment and prevention have been wasting their time. It's saying all these people's work is misguided."

Law enforcement did their job during the alcohol prohibition too, and their job has always been to enforce the law. This argument has nothing to do with whether the drug war is working or not. Treatment and prevention is required no matter what the legal status of a drug may be.

The new Drug Czar is the same ol' shit (Gil Kerlikowske):
In a May 22, 2009 interview on KUOW radio, he said any drug 'legalization' would be "waving the white flag" and that "legalization is off the the charts when it comes to discussion, from my viewpoint" and that "legalization vocabulary doesn't exist for me and it was made clear that it doesn't exist in President Obama's vocabulary." Specifically about marijuana, he said, "It's a dangerous drug" and about the medical use of marijuana, he said, "we will wait for evidence on whether smoked marijuana has any medicinal benefits - those aren't in."

It depends on whose perspective you are looking at the Drug War from. If analzying the war from the stated progagnda goals of lowering drug use and saving the kids. Then yes it's been a dissmal failure.

But, if you are looking at it from the elites point of view of generating money and criminalizing society by helping turn the world into a police state it's been a resounding success.

is absolutely correct!!!! Walters said a mouth full when he made that statement!! After 40 years and untold millions/trillions of dollars the "Drug War" HAS FAILED!!!!! The description of insanity: doing something over and over, expecting different results.....
Mr Obama, Mr Kerlikowske, you need to get in touch with millions of Americans' beliefs and remove penalties for marijuana use! A wave of millions of people who believe in the use of cannabis is coming your way!!!!!!!!!!:moon:

i beg to differ...
A politician or political leader (from Greek "polis") is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making. This includes people who hold decision-making positions in government, and people who seek those positions, whether by means of election, coup d'état, appointment, electoral fraud, conquest, right of inheritance (see also: divine right) or other means. Politics is not limited to governance through public office. Political offices may also be held in corporations, and other entities that are governed by self-defined political processes.

I don't agree with American politics on weed, I don't agree with importing this politic into EU. While science found so many good attributes of THC considering working on human immunity system.

"They" want us ill. To sell us their medicine. The more they get from country per curing person, the better for them. Cancer drugs are ridiciously expensive. They want us ill. And they want us to use their genocidic system.

"They" - Pharmaceutics, Oil, Alcohol and Tobacco lobbies

Here's the biggest problem right here.....

"To say that all the things that have been done in the war on drugs haven't made any difference is ridiculous," Walters said. "It destroys everything we've done. It's saying all the people involved in law enforcment, treatment and prevention have been wasting their time. It's saying all these people's work is misguided."

YES! And.... it's not your fault dude! Get over the fact that the TRUTH is not what you want to hear and get on with fixing the nation. Grow a fucking spine!

Stay Safe! :tree:
