Paul Armentano blasts new drug control strategy

The Obama administration is about as far from accepting the medical benefits of cannabis as any other administration before it. Paul Armentano, deputy director of NORML posted up a fine blog entry today in which he discusses the newly released national drug control strategy and it's firm opposition to the legalization of cannabis or any other illicit drug.

"Is anyone surprised? You shouldn’t be. After all, this is the same Gil Kerlikowske that has said repeatedly that legalization is not in his vocabulary, and publicly stated, “Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit.” And this is the same administration that recently nominated Michele Leonhart to head the DEA — the same Michele Leonhart who overruled the DEA’s own administrative law judge in order to continue to block medical marijuana research, and publicly claimed that the rising death toll civilians attributable to the U.S./Mexican drug war “a signpost of the success” of U.S. prohibitionist policies."

His idea of fixing the drug war in Mexico is sending his wife to talk to the Mexican First Lady WTF? More people are dying in Juarez, MX than Iraq, and Afghanistan! It is on our border, yet he has never been to Mexico to do shit! Homeland security my ass. Obama knows he is done and will never get reelected. I am sorry for all of those people he lied to about reforming the marijuana laws just to get votes. He is like a Bush with no Balls!

Ugh... again. I have been systematically let down on every issue that I cared about by this admin. Campaign finance just lost all its reform from the last 50 years, our one true shot at a decent single-payer hc system turned into an opportunity for the right to get 1 step closer to banning abortion, Cap-and-Trade has become a joke and the economy is still in the shitter. And now they once again prove that their campaign promises were as empty as Bush's (Jr) brain was.

The oceans are dying... china determines our exchange rate... welfare is financing the mostly part-time staff at almost all retailers... BP is allowing milions of gallons of oil to pump into the ocean instead of just sealing the pipe and giving up on that future revenue.

Now they are signaling that they are about to start up the raids full-steam again. The supreme court needs to do something quick. Everybody reading this - this is about as clear a signal as you can get that they are about to come after us med users/providers.

BE CAREFUL - I bet we see a shit load of raids, SOON!

When obama made it up to the public to decide what he would discuss at a press conference, something like 60% said MMJ - and his only response was a half-joke. FUCK!
He was stoned the first dayn in office, he got lost n couldnt find the door he came out of - he looked fuckin baked! Oh well, hypocritical politicians are nothing new.

No chance that Legalization wil pass in NOV in CA or elsewhere, the MMJ vested interests are too afraid they may lose money and the people who woulda been the biggest supporters of leg are now against it. I'm voting for legalization, if i lose income so what - its the rightthing 2 do and its way overdue. I'm ducking fisgusted by all this.
