ONLY bad thing I've heard is placed too close/within grow space.. It can cause the plants to loose their smell.. tripped out to have flame buds that smell like nothing lol.... reason I just use Carbon Filters.. aslong as you don't have crazy RH problems.. they are VERY effective.. or If on budget try them gel smell killers you scatter around.

yeah it burned the hell out of my plants. I was using it to take care of the smell, which it did, but after a few days i noticed alot of yellowing on everthing.

I had it running through my 4" inline fan but it was only on half strength. It worked really good except for the burnt leaves. Its still hooked up incase i need to eliminate the odor in an emergengy, but now i just use dryer sheets and a scrubber most of the time. I also have a PM issue so i occasionally use it to contain outbreaks

I have read that they can kill smell if placed around plants too much.I bought a air cleaner at a second hand store for under 5 dollars. It works well for me.

Hi. o3 is not healthy to breathe in.

A carbon scrubber in a sealed room is the ideal setup.

yea they fucking smell like shit and make your head hurt. i would find other ways to go our keep them strictly in vents or near exhaust, they can def hurt you and make plants loose smell....

SOme folks are more suseptable to the oder then others,Ive never seen where a ozone generator placed in the same room robs the plants of smell.Ive never had a problem with thier use.lot more productive then a carbon scrubber imho..

I use an Ozone generator for my big room. The air is vented out of the room into an attic where it mixes with the Ozone. There's never a smell in the house or outside, or any ill effects noticed by anyone in the household. FWIW, 2 members of my family have Asthma and the Ozone hasn't served as a precipitating factor.

no probs with ozone

no probs with ozone

i use one constantly in the mothers room ,and i have ozone in the ducting in the flower room .Ive used ozone in the mothers room for about 15 years never had any probs unless i forget to switch it of when i go in .
I had some ozone leak into the flower room from the exhaust one time for one crop, didnt cause any problems that i could see but was not a lot of ozone.

You use it right in your mother room? I want to run mine in my veg room but I'm scared it will hurt something. I have a pretty powerful unit. Does the ozone smell overwhelm you when you walk in the room?

The ozone unit totally negates any smell leaks I was having but I am worried it might affect my plants.

well ive always used in mothers/veg room no probs "BUT I SWITCH IT OF TO WORK IN THERE" yes you can smell it in there .
When i switch it off for working in there i put a tin of a mixture of Neutradol and white spirit in front of the extract fan.
I would say the amount of ozone in there would be harmfull to my lungs for sure.

I think as long as it doesnt hurt your throat it shouldnt be too damaging..I've ran my homemade unit 2 ft away from plants for the last year..it was on a timer though..experimenting with running it 24/7 right now..It all depends on the strength of your ozonator I guess..In my case, I can make as much or as little as I want, just by making the metal mesh smaller thats got the glass sandwiched between it

ps: cost of my ozonator was 30 bucks..thats what i paid for the 25 pound neon transformer..other than that you just need some microscope slides ( wider the better) and some wire

one of the BEST suggestions for using ozone came from Simon (thanks simon) was to pump ALL the garden air up into the attic space where you run the ozone generator, and the smell is deactivated.
because the ozone gen is NOT in the grow area, or living space, you don't have to worry about decreasing the fragrance ON the plants or health issues, AND because the ozone generator basically fills the attic space with ozone, as the smaller volume of garden air hits it, the ozone does a MUCH better job of eliminating the odor.

I set up my grow this way as soon as I read the post.

obviously this is if you HAVE an attic space (my studio apt does)

I have a few ozone generators. I throw one in the back room where the cat box is when the smell is driving me nuts (I smell those fuckers no matter how CLEAN they are) and it works great.

I've used one to regulate smell on my grow, but the down fall is simply that O3 is bad for plants & humans for extended periods of time. 8 hour periods on a medium setting max. We put them in houses on the market for real estate companys for days to neutralize the smell of the house, and we tell them to not spend much time in the house if they really need to go in there, and wait a few hours after the machine is off to go back.

Anyways, I've never seen it have a negative effect on my plants, but I never left it on for extended periods of time. Which is another downfall, that during the times when you should have it off, you're dealing with smell, so you need a back up. When a carbon filter would do just fine.

Definitely good in a pinch. Say your grow smells mildly strong, but you don't do much about it since no one comes over. And say someone HAS to come over, crank that O3 generator up!

I use a big one in my airlock, that gets sucked into veg and pushed into flower. Works great, I keep it on a timer with a fan so it runs 15 minutes and then turns off for 30, works dandy! They can hurt you and your plants if placed too close or too strong, use the test kits for safety, but basically if you can smell it it's too strong.
