1000w MH/HPS, or many more as needed for 12 hr cycle bloom
Flouros for veg 24hr/transition 12hr

Ferts: Stay Organic as possible in 6" cubes for a good root base
PBPBloom for veg/trans/bloom (2.5-2-5)
Calmag+ (2-0-0)
Sweet-berry
Liquid Karma
Carboload powder 1/4 tsp per gal bubbled RO water
Sensizym 2 tsp per gal
Pot O Gold
Bud Blood 1/4 tsp per gal (1st week of transition)
Certain strains use Bushmaster also (Sativas for streaching) 1st week of transition only

(Once a week Maxicrop liquid seaweed 1/2 capful per gal+Blackstrap molasses 1 tsp per gal,add this to fert mix)

Great thread Toohigh, read it top to bottom,it looks like you really have your shit together!Glad to hear you got your pitch back,I also have gone though some humbling shit in the past couple years, but I still haven't fully recovered.I'm like Kenny starting his teaching gig...reduced to doing a demeaning shit job way beneath my former pay scale and living off the generosity of family members, lol.

I really like the idea using a flipper to stagger the lights,I've never seen anything like it,and especially to double up and control two rooms, that's some innovative shit.I like the look of those flip boxes you use,I've got that link bookmarked for future reference.

You said something about most Canadian genetics sucking, and as much as the patriot in me wishes I could offer a proper rebuttal,I must say for the most part you are correct. It's some sad shit, but a few of us up here know whats up.I'm no breeder but I know how to import proper genetics, which is more than I can say for the majority of my countrymen. That being said,I have seen some amazing outdoor in the form of the Guerrilla Gold line,by a guy name Guerrilla Greens, that dude really has made some amazing contributions to anyone growing outside in the harsh north, just thought he deserved a mention.

damn, people still posting here. thank you all for the compliments. I mean no disrespect about Canadian Genes, but I would think hanging w Remo and tech Mike, Biksa, and a bunch of others for 2 weeks from Richmond, VAN, V-isle, Surrey, Langley, Abottsford, and even Blackcomb/whistler to only find some decent black domina and M-39, Island sweet skunk, pink kush, and HOG.. No BOG.. Friends are growin Chems out there as well as PK, Lemon Larry, and mazar. It's nice to see you guys working with proper Genes these days.
any questions, feel free to holla

i would like to see the 3+ grams per light. just wondering if thats reality or hype. I have a similar system and i'm trying to figure the math on the yield.

thanks!

wow im suprised i havent seen this thread sooner, and its crazy that iv never heard of someone using flip units this way, i say its crazy because like 7 months ago when i got my 2 flipboxes i had thought about getting a 3rd one and running 4 hoods off 1 ballast splitting my room into 2 bloom rooms with 2k each.

dont know if i can qualify as a great mind but as the saying goes great minds think alike.

Oh and i know this thread is old, when you gonna start that 16k off 4kw grow? or am i too high to see it in front of my face?

I am confused how you can run 16Kw off of 4 ballast, I understand flipping between 2 rooms, but not sure how you run 8at a time off of 4 ballasts. But awesome grow none the less

Do you buy like 90% of your stuff from home depot? I've seen a shop vac, buckets, (i presume that fan too?), and that ?zep? spray bottle? haha. wickedddddd! Got plenty of those around here. Shit old thread, post updates?

For some the importance is using 1 ballast on continously so these new smart meters the elec co,'s use don't recognize the hid signature coming on 60 days in a row for 12 exact hours a day. What is done is the elec keeps the ballast on continously for 24 hours with the line out changing directions( mag ballast only,,,digi ballast info varies ) . Anyway the line coming out of the continously running ballast will operate 1 1000 watter in 1 room for 12 hours and leave that light, in that room( turning it off for the nighttime), and operate another in a second sealed room for the other 12 hours in a day. So two rooms on 1 non-stopping ballast. Elec co. knows you are using elec but cannot identify a 1000 watt hid starting and stopping.

So now knowing how the flip flop relay works this user has one relay to flip 8 lights , 4 on at a time ,each hour for a 12 hour shift. At this time a second relay will change rooms so the 4 original ballasts flip 8,, 4 on and off each hour to a second room for this rooms lights on period. Again 4 lights out of eight total per room are run at one time. The rooms must be 12 hours apart. Over a 24 hour period only 4 can be on at once
The reson for the alternating lights per room is for more, better coverage for more plants. As someone said, "like an alternating checkerboard."

joints all day thank you. that is exactly what's goin on. 4 ballasts run 24/7. they stagger flip every 2 hours on one flip, the other flip flips the 12 hour photo cycle. If I wasn't having friends getting popped all over the place, I would post pics of my 2 10x18' rooms. by the way, this grow went on for 2 years until 2 months ago when it was raided. I sold the setup to my roomate a year ago, and just consulted him. he sold coke and got raided. all that gear is in a evidence property room. Fucking idiot! I been off the radar to keep the heat off me. hell I even moved back to CA to be legit. last pull out of that place pulled just shy of 16# w the second room up in action with pre '98. it were as if he ran 16, yet only 4k consistently. now that the theory has been proven 2x, I'm looking for a new space to run 2 20 bulb rooms off 10 ballasts. running stadiums & I'm thinking w Aircooling and insulation, a 2 ton AC per room is almost overkill.. talk about maximizing gpkwh...

Wow!
such an investment!!

10 k at once is huge also. I'm sorta suprised this flip inside a room hasn't been thought of before,,,, Only cause it seems I read a plant doesn't use all 100 % of all light all the time. ( ex. lightmover ).

Good work!

I'm in a felony state or I'd offer to participate ( still would if I knew ya )

Take care & thanks again for the sharing and the education.

It has been done before, for years, it's called zig zag lighting. Most growers who have 20 or more lights use this pattern to veg in both of the flowering greenhouses with a flip. The flip has all the lights on in both greenhouses (not at the same time) for 6 hours each. The last 12 hours the lights are rotated off and on, using half the lights in each greenhouse. This allows an 18/6 cycle in both greenhouses. Then when flowering time is ready, the greenhouses switch to 12/12.

Ok I have a scenario for you and if you can answer with any kind of smart guess .. then great.
First let me repeat too, high by saying he was familar with a room that once dialed in he was getting a lb per alternaing bulb. AMAZING..Great work

I'm running 2 one k's for 12 on/off. ( 1 harvest is about 3.5 lbs ) And, I have a pretty good idea what i get per light at a time. I'm wondering if I used 1 ballast for 2 alternating day bulbs and 2 more bulbs at night, which of course is the same electric usage,,what % of an increase in 1) amount of square footage would I try to cover under 2 alternating ( i go about 4 x 6 under one k now ) or do i want overlapping 50 % or something??? And would you do the math equally for yield? would it double if I used 2 ballasts continous or even a small percent more?

I guess I would ask too high if you got 1 lb per light like this,,,isn't that the same as 2 lbs per 1 k ?
This would be the same electric as 2 one k's for the 12 hours. Am I missing something? And I still have to keep ballasts restarting? I'm dense on this crap.xgdcaa and nowI spilled my bowl on my keyboard.

Tactician;
The only reasn I'm curious is the hid footprint on the smartmeters. I have read your posts that say they should turn on/off,,even magnetic ones??

At what cost can this be disguised? change ballasts once a year?

thanks! hope you can help

Great setup, great taste in genetics. Its clear you know what the fuck is up. Big ups.

It's all about the overlap. The flip every 2 hours sends the side growth towards the opposing lamps. It keeps the temps down and reduces stress & shock of constant HID light. Movers are only linear movement. You need a minimum of 2 ballasts & 4 hoods to get the effects, unless of course you have a spare room and 4 more hoods. 8 off 2..

ok,,,,thanks,,,,,,,,I understannd better and it seems all about much larger grows. Yes it can be done with a few ballasts but ,,thank you toohighmf,,,but I see this as a warehouse or greenhouse size op. lots of lights with the overlap being important. I'm too worried about my electric bill now, haha.

That grow was my master bedroom. and 2 rooms we gutted a wall out of to make a 10.5x21' room. otherwise this can be done effectively in a single 10x10 room with 4 hoods and 2 ballasts. I usually never grow where I live. I was desperate. I usually run commercial and my average room is 10kw in lighting. I have run 26,800 watts of lighting and its a lot of work. this 16 hood grow is more than plenty for now. 40 off 10 is kind of a pipe dream, and to be honest after thinking about it, I can only run increments of 4,8,12 for even lighting. probably do 36 off 8 this winter to keep lighting even.

Sup S419? hope your season went well. I can't trim fast enough... W a pair of rolling thunders. 1 up north & another down south..
I thought goin OD this year would wear me out with an indoor or 2. It's just mota-vated me to do more indoor and prep for spring again. Have some new projects and product testing I plan to share soon. I think I need an industrial carbon filter..
