LF is making a good recovery! Good root growth as well!

LR has some good roots showing, but is still not doing much of anything in the growth area..

I brought the TDS up to about 600ppm last night, still using the lucas formula. By my calculations I should be at about 5ml micro, 10ml bloom per gal. I also added about 5ml of Cal-Mag Plus total.

This morning they were showing a bit of canoeing, which is usually indicative of a magnesium deficiency. I should have plenty of Mg in my mix and my pH was down at 5.55, so I added about 2.5ml of pH Up to bring it closer to 5.8. Hopefully this will correct the issues..

Using the nutrient profiler spreadsheet, I came up with the following:

N 67.4
P 57.6
K 98.7
Mg 40.4
S 26.4
Ca 68.2

Which should give me an NPK of 1.18 -1- 1.72.. Probably not ideal, so I will have to work on getting that closer to 2-1-2 or even 3-1-2.

giant, depending on how that clone catches up, you might be taking cuttings from the big one before you know it? The big plant should take off soon and looks pretty bushy for lots of tops to be cuttings just cut them , dip in hormone, and stick them into the netpots down til the stems touch water level they will not wilt if they touch the water (*the cuttings will have to be at least 6 inches long, or you can raise the water level). also before you do that cover the netpot with foil and poke 3 or 4 holes in it, for the cuttings to slip through. this way you will have 3 - 4 chances per bucket and you can cull any smaller ones that get in the way later. The foil will also prevent algae formation on the surface. You could use panda film or some other material besides foil, but I figured you might have some in your kitchen. :) Hang in there, I'll be wishing the best to you and your buckets!

Hm I hadnt thought about a clone from the big plants.. I was thinking about topping before they got to the screen anyway, so it might be worth it.

Is that all I have to do? Take the cutting, dip it in some rooting hormone, and stick it in the netpot? Will my current conditions support life for the new cutting? ~5.8 pH and 600ppm TDS, 65* water temp

That sounds awesome, because I want these guys to keep pretty close in size. :tiphat:

Simply, Yes. Your water conditions seem perfect. Also you could even go lighter on the nutes because rdwc uses the nutes very efficiently. But it should be fine right there for veg with those conditions. I don't want to knit pick your settings as those can fluctuate. But as far as the cuttings go, it's the only way to go.

Update time! Res temps are a cool 64-68*f, while temps in the tent have been up around 80-90*f. This morning the pH was about 5.7 and TDS was at around 625. pH down and EC up tells me they are drinking more than they are eating. I am assuming this is due to the high temps in the tent. I am working feverishly to keep it under 80* from now on..

Say good morning, girls!

Nope, thats with only one 600w MH going.. I wasnt planning on flipping on the second until flower.

I rerouted one of my ducts to suck air in from a nearby roof vent. Hopefully this will keep my lights cool, and in the process keep my tent under 80*. :dance013:

if u keep the ambient air outside the tent lower it should stay that way in the tent also? depends how much a/c you have. I will continue to watch. :)

That is the problem; I have no real way to control the ambient temps outside of the tent. I am growing inside of a garage with no A/C and no insulation in the walls. Luckily outside temps in my area rarely get above 80* even in the summer. Gotta love the beach, baby! :dance013:

The range from 80 to 90 isn't that bad especially if your res temps are still good but it's something to work on...ph down and ec up means they are drinking more than eating, and also that they want more water! I would add just water, which brings ph up and ec down. High temps like the ones you have just increase the levels of transpiration of the plants and as long as you can account for that the girls will continue to flourish.

I like to see my ph go from 5.5 to 5.8. 5.5 right after topping off nutes, and 5.8 or 5.9 a couple days or a week later right before I give them nutes.

Sometimes the ph will go up and ec go down...then it means add more nutes...when ph goes down and ec goes up they are thirsty not hungry.

Damn this mendo purp has got me rambling but anyways I'm sure I'm just repeating myself and that you and everyone else knows but it's good to keep in mind :tiphat: everything looks sweet are you going to do a scrog?

Yup, that was my thinking. Add more water if thats what they are asking for.. :D

My original plan was to do a scrog, but I went to put the screen up and realized I would not be able to reach the plants in the back of the tent with the screen in place. My tent has a back door, but right now its positioned up against a wall and I am unable to access it. I will have to make some modifications to my setup if I want to keep my original plan..

I added almost 3gal of RO water last night. pH was 5.7 this morning and still around 620ppm. I plan on doing a res change tomorrow, shooting for a 3-1-2 NPK ratio.

Anyway.. Thirsty girls = growing girls.

Maybe I should just top one of the better looking clones and clone it to replace this one like IamNug suggested... Who's with me?

I'm with you on that giant, unless you wana keep waiting for it to recover it just might be faster to clone one of the others. Looking good tho bro,sux your not gonna scrog I really wanted to see those get all tangled up in a screen,

I still really want to do the scrog, but its going to take some work. If all goes according to plan, this weekend I will clear space out in the garage, drain the system, and rotate the tent 90* so that I can access the front and back. Then I can take some cuttings, refill the res with the new 3-1-2 ratio, and install the screen. Should be a party! :jump:

Maybe I will top them all while I am at it. That should make things easier with the screen in place anyway.

Giant, Personally what I did when I didn't have enough cuttings was I just vegged them out longer, this quickly makes up for the difference in lack of tops. They can be trimmed for cuttings, but it will delay things a bit. I personally didn't NEED to have a certain number of plants and fewer plants that are bigger has worked out pretty darn well for me so far. Anyways, Just wanted to give you another perspective, it's all a trade off when it comes to plant numbers vs. plant size. Your plants should gain vigor very quickly. Oh and on the topic of screens, I would absolutely get one in there ASAP! like 6" opening netting... :) Hope you're having a great one...

P.S. I just nestled in a new baby blue dream cut into my garden, very similar looking traits. I'm gonna be excited to see how yours turn out!

That was the idea behind this grow.. I went from 12 clones originally, to 6, down to 4 in a scrog. I really dont want to go down to 3, but I suppose it really doesnt make a difference. I was already planning on growing monsters, but without the screen I am really going to have a limited height in the tent.

Ive already got my screen. Its 4"x4" construction re-mesh. I sprayed it with flat black rustolium to stop it from rusting.

Good luck on your blue dream clones! This has always been one of my favorite smokes, so I am really excited to so it grow!

Awesome plans giant! I don't know that I've actually had blue dream buds heh, I do have hash from it though. The descriptions I have heard of the strain are quite elite sounding.
