You don't need to pay $100 for great genetics. I would start with Northern Lights #5, or possibly the NL X BB from Joey Weed.

Agree the NL practically grows itself, Skunk strains are strong and very resilient too which are perfect for beginners! Good luck bro :canabis:

This, tbqfh :D

You cannot beat a good bagseed run for a first grow. It seems counter intuitive, but the breadth of knowledge you will gain is irreplaceable. It won't all be the same strain, and it won't all be the same quality. Some will suck ass, but you may find a potential superstar. Like my sig says :D

I had a bagseeed grow one time that yielded an incredible variety. One was a plant that budded to nothing but leaf. Calyxes were nearly non existent. But out of the same run, I had a heavy yielder that ran in 6-7 weeks.

Incredible smoke, heavy yield, 7 week strain, shit, I could sell that for $25 a seed and have the entire stock disappear within seconds. All from bagseed.

The genes didn't survive the crazy shit that happened in my life at that point, so don't ask, I'm heartbroken enough as it is :badday:

The simple fact is that, as a first time grower, you're going to make mistakes. You could, very likely, kill an entire crop with just one variable out of place. As a point of fact, the odds say not only CAN you, but you WILL :D

Even when you're flush with seeds, the loss of known genetics hurts.

Grow BAGSEED before you spend a dime on seeds! Always!

But, since I know anyone that has their heart set on buying genes will end up buying them, no matter what I say, I give you this recommendation:

Gypsy Nirvana B-52.

I got some passed through a friend from a Seed Boutique freebie. That plant performed magnificently. Even in a new technique, in an untested room, it brought in over 50g off of one much abused plant.

As far as the high, I still have people close to me that ask for "that giggly stuff you gave me [back then]"

Awesome smoke, easy to grow, resisted mildew, fungus, mites, and root rot, and still came out yielding damn near two ounces off a single plant.

When you're talking about $10, it can't be beat. For the price, given you're a new grower, you really need look no further. It's a forgiving lineage that just loves to perform. It'll take every mistake you make in stride and still put out. If you manage to get everything right (you won't :D) it'll out perform you wildest dreams.

No other strain comes close, not even the NL that a few have mentioned. NL is an easy STAIVA dom to grow, but sativas in general are picky.

The rough and ready B52 is your cheapest and best bet, in my opinion.

No matter the strain, welcome to freedom, and an elite class of people. Not everyone can make this decision, much less follow it through.

Welcome to IC Mag, and your break from the status quo! :tiphat:

plus there are plenty of great freebies available from the bay!

If mandala safari is considered great.

I have packs and packs of that stuff. Basically leftover seeds that were unstable from trying different strain combos...Seems that is all they ever send out anymore.

*edit. I thought I read 'boo not bay. Bay seems like too much of a hassle for me. Other auction sites are way more user friendly.

Be careful. I have no idea which sites you are talking about, but keep this in mind: The less you have to do, the more of a trail you leave.

If you're having things "user-friendly", then you're relying on something (a server) to track your actions. if a computer does it, it is recorded somewhere.

Sites that rely more on human interaction are, in my opinion, more secure. You're dealing with a real live person, who just by interacting with you, has hitched their cart to yours. Anything they could give as evidence is no greater than their act of response.

In other words, you can trade up, but not laterally :D

If a comp record sends me to jail, I'm an idiot. If a snitching weasel gives me up because they sold me seeds... Well, I can find them ;)

I agree, but spending 40-50.00 just to make sure it gets there in time is stupid. If it is not there in 14 days or less, then you have another week+ of trying to contact them, and wait for a response, then pay confirmation, then the beans arrive usually packed poorly and some even crushed.

The instructions on how to order are confusing...there is not any real way to filter results (as far as I have seen, unless you know the exact strain), Then you have people crossing 2 basic strains and calling it something crazy and putting it up for 150.00.

Just not my cup of tea...but i do understand what you are talking about. I am not a very paranoid person. I just think that spending xx on beans then another xx on shipping your payment to ensure 14 day arrival is crazy.

Eventually when i am out of beans and have no access to cuts I may try again, until then the 'boo is much easier for me.

Every female that I have grown from a pack of mandala SM was a great plant. Genetics were used in the making of the SM that you can't find elsewhere.
And what do you know about them being unstable? That seems like a pretty unfair assessment to me. Have you even grown them out?

Get cheap seeds from Mr. Nice... He is an awesome breeder who created most of these strains nirvana is offering... Plus you get 15-18 seeds in a pack vs 10 from other breeders.

maybe 'white skunk' by white label(/sensi seeds) would be a good choice, too,as a beginner strain.
it´s a combination of white widow and skunk
+ (here) it just costs 16€

Not trying to pick a fight, or choose one site over another, just offering a thought:

It may not be worth the extra cost in shipping, but is it worth it in the cost of your freedom? Think about how many valuable and irreplaceable growers were lost when OG went down before you answer.

contains a mix of seeds from various experimental crosses in our breeder lab. <---that in itself kinda says something about stability. I have about 1k seeds that fit that bill.

I have grown 5/15, 3 males, 1 never germ'd, and the one female was one of the stretchiest plant ever, with minimal good characteristics, I ended up culling it because the room had better genes already going.

Don't get me wrong, I love mandala's genes, and the freebies are nice...I have given all but the 5 I tried away, as that is what the freebies are for.

I don't mean to get everyone so defensive about Mandala, like I said, I love their strains. The Safari just was not what I expected.

I agree peace of mind is good. I know risks I take, and willing to accept consequences as we all should. Do not do the crime if you can't do the time...

OG was a Canadian company, a far cry from a company in the U.K. IMO.
