hey all i just turned 18 a little bit ago and im wondering about my medical card. im really against pills and such( they fuck with my body) and i do smoke regularly for my back. when i was in 8th grade i got in a football accident and messed up some of the muscles in my back prity bad. earlier last year i developed a a sharp pain in my back were i had the injury. this pain has become a all the time thing now my back hurts constantly. ive gone to the hospital for this once and have been to the doctors about 4 or 5 times now for help on it and am going to see i chiropractor soon. the pain makes it so i cant go to sleep at night because im soo uncomfortable and it really stresses me out durring my day. What is the chance that i can get my card for this? im afraid they are going to look at me as just another kid wanting to get high but thats not true in this case. what do u guys think?

As long as you have a documented history of a qualifying condition you can get a card.

1. Cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or treatment for these conditions;
2. A medical condition or treatment for a medical condition that produces, for a specific patient, one or more of the following:
1. Cachexia;
2. Severe pain;
3. Severe nausea;
4. Seizures, including but not limited to seizures caused by epilepsy; or
5. Persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to spasms caused by multiple sclerosis; or
Any other medical condition or treatment for a medical condition adopted by the department by rule or approved by the department pursuant to a petition submitted pursuant to ORS 475.334.

There's a lot to learn. It's nice starting young, but it's also a little expensive to do right, so budget yourself appropriately. In 2 to 3 years you could put together a really nice setup without ever breaking the bank.
To be honest, a fully legit grow room that is med compliant (not gigantic) is going to run anywhere from $1200 to $3000, depending on lighting and growing method. A smaller grow can be accomplished for $500 to $800. If I were you I'd plan on putting aside about $100 every month, and just save up. In 5 or 6 months you'll have the cash you need for the lighting and the ventilation, and in a year or so you should be harvesting your first really decent buds (but I suppose it could be sooner).
It's going to take some time to get it right, so approach the educational process slowly as there is a lot to wrap your mind around.
