Its coco & just dabbing a little of mixed h2o2 on top after scraping off the Green algae would fix this issue, Just a little dab over where youve scraped the G'A off is fine & wont do too much damage!

you could also use physan 20, but like the h2o2 it will affect any other biologicals in your coco. if you're just running straight chem feed, though, it's no worries!

yea it does procede to kill beneficials!....however, IMO, if you have a thriving colony of beni's you wouldnt have algae in the first place. so fuck it, use the h2o2, kill the algae, then try to innoculate the soil again. no worries...the oxygen that the h202 provides will make up for the dead benes for a day or 2? lol

Your soil is alive and supporting algae and microbes. That is what you want. If you are using natural nutrients then the algae and microbes break down the nutrients and turn them into sugars and good stuff that your plants love. H2O2 will kill it but why would you want to do that?

If you have damp soil you will get gnats with the alga or not. I sprinkle tobacco on top of my pots at first sign of gnats. Gnats gone and my soils biology kicking ass.

whoa isn't that gonna end up giving your plants nicotine and tar from the tobacco when you water? i'm no fan of those fungus gnat, but i'd be a bit worried about actually adding tobacco on top of pots. making a spray for the leaves yes, but adding to the root zone? i'm no biologist so not sure if any negative effects would be expected? how much tobacco you use per plant?

most interesting. some how i still hesitate to actually do this, much as i dislike those gnats and worse yet their off spring. but maybe i'll try it once with some American spirit tobacco

Just add 1'' of Hydroton on top of your coco don't know why but nothing grows on Hydroton.
