Wireless Internet Enabled Video Cameras for Outdoor?

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has any experience using wirelessly transmitting IP-based,SMTP-capable, or SMS enabled security cameras that can reach up to 1000 feet and run on batteries. Recharging could be done as often as 24 hours with no problem. Something along the lines of the wildlife cameras that are popular these days.. My friend's grow will be on his land within this range and he's wondering what his options are for monitoring activity in that area when fall comes around. .So far I've ran across one called Orion Buckeye Cam that seems like it may do the trick but it's more than he needs and is about $3500 total for the PC base and the camera.. Ultimately what he really needs is just something that can take snapshots and transmit a picture to an email address, or an SMS message with picture to a smart phone when motion is detected.. not so much a full on video stream..

Thanks a bunch!

I think there's an ap you can get for one of the phones out there for like a buck. The problem here is that you will need to hook up the "webcam" to a computer. If you're watching an outdoor grow, this will be a problem.

Please check phone aps for this little dandy. I've seen it in action. Kepping eyes on baby sitter, and home security in general.

I just posted about this subject in my first post earlier this morning. I do want to say that having the "internet enabled" option would be a HUGE security breach, which is exactly what you would not want to do(or at least me). With the Buckeye Orion cameras you can use a daisy chained camera as a base and access the base camera via antenna while you are mobile in your vehicle on your laptop within 2 miles. Doing it this way would make tracking the transmittion nearly impossible..think of the movie "Pump Up The Volume". Plus the Orion cameras can be remotely controlled by the base laptop computer and be checked, turned on or off and all that jazz without connecting to any third party server.
