no problem bro, im a fancier of the original game breedings of APBT's. im also a big fan of the bandogge movement. some of these mutts being produced are of extremely valuable traits! i actually plan to bring some quality lines to the tables... some old fashion game bred APBT lines with old world english mastiff lines... hoping i get some great working dogs with fierce game instincts for hog and cougar hunting. i want the power and size along with the gentleness of these mastiffs, along with the agility and game instincts of the select bred APBT's.

THANK YOU dearly for posting this. This is 100% on point. The common person would of quickly mistaken those dogs for American Pit Bull Terriers.

Your post is so valuable.

German Shepherds, great companion and in a second they go from chilling right next to you to the sickest guard dog around... I've also yet to meet a smarter breed...

Any German lines are usually the shit... shepherds, dobermans, rotties, etc.

WARNING: They shed like a motherfucker, the Akita side.
Also is hard to 'socialize' the Akita with other dogs, takes time (sometimes never).

Also, no one has mentioned it, but the right Black Lab can be a real baddass.

And if you ever want to make a pit a great guard dog, just get her pregnant. After pregnancy they aren't scared of shit.

Me and my lady who is 25wks preggers are deciding on breed for family/guard dog. We live on a small acreage with trees and steep hills. Plan on having various animals and pets... already have 2 cute kittens and 2 chooks.

So we first thought of G.Shephard or Akita... but maybe not good with a baby... so now thinking black lab, belgian shepherd or maybe after reading this some kind of ridgeback/mastiff kinda thingo???

Has to be child friendly, good with other dogs/pets and not likely to wander and kill my neighbours sheep/alpacas...???

Any advice would be great!

silver there are many breeds that would suit your needs with proper training

freindly. lol i would not want my kids and family around an inbred mut or however you put it... what if it had like 5 legs or 3 testicles, this could severely hinder its agility and might give an extra advantage to the bad guy.

if you live alone there is a Korean breed dog that bonds to its master. Anybody else is gonna bit on your property. These bad asses are nice looking, but have loyalty to one person or family everybody else is an enemy. Very cool breed

Especially a GSD/ or Akita with Family(It is a problem with other DOGS not family). Granted my dog is wary of children, but that is cause they are running at him, throwing their hands in his face.

That stupid movie coming out 'Hachi' is loosely based on a true story in Japan. The man's dog would sit at the platform every day until his owner got home. Then one day his owner died during day, that dog waited on the platform for his owner to come back, until the dog himself died.

I would be willing to bet that dog's breed was Akita. But that is just a guess and my own bias, but very loyal dogs they are, just a few 'social hierarchy' problems with other dogs.

With GSD or Akita it is imperative that they be raised as a part of the family, you maintain Alpha, but they are not a backyard dog.

They will be sitting and chilling at your feet, and then at a moments notice some stranger fucking with your child is no more.

Big, Mean, Illegal in Denver Pit bulls are some of the kindest and gentelest creatures I have known.

What is imperative is that a dog trained for FAMILY protection is treated as a member of the FAMILY, even though YOU are ALWAYS Alpha.

Look into Schutzhund theory/training. It will help you decide if you want to dedicate that much TIME to training. But noone fucks with a kid with a Schutzhund, unless they kill the dog first.

My mini-schnauzer is a real killer. Nicest dog you'll ever meet, very sweet, but very territorial. Barks at anything that moves in what she considers here territory. Which is usually anything and anywhere she can see. Sure let's you know when someone comes on the property.

I can 100% back up what has been said about APBT's, they make really shitty guard dogs IF the person knows that pits are loves. I got a female pit she barks at people she doesn't know, and has even bit my brother when he ran in the house unannounced wearing a jacket and hat but backed off once she recognized him.. I'd say most anybody who is dumb enough to resort to thievery rather than work on their own would also not be knowledgeable enough to know how to keep their cool in presence of an "aggressive" breed..

Get a AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER (Gotti X Razorsedge), and his an excellent watch dog at only at 10 months old. Can't say he's a "guard" dog yet, but has potential. Friendly with kids, and very mean with strangers. I actually have to introduce him to friends or he will snap at em. If they make the wrong movements. Never had a pup with such great potential...

Get a pitbull (Gotti X Razorsedge)

OP

Gotti Lines and Razorsedge lines are not that of the American Pit Bull Terrier. Do some personal research and you will see that their lines come from American Stafffordshire Terriers. They are even starting petitions for kicking the Gotti and Razoredge lines out of some Registries like the ADBA and U.K.C and thus they have started a new Registry for them ABKC (American Bully Kennel Club) and are re-classing the dogs as American Bullies (also research that).

It is good to be knowledgeable with the history of animals you keep so I do hope you will not just take my word for it and what I say but do research on those lines that your dog come from. Also everyone wants to say their BLUENOSE is an American Pit Bull Terrier, once you find out that they are in fact American Staffordshire Terriers you can educate people to stop calling them Pit Bulls (American Pit Bull Terriers).

I hope that is helpful.

:ying:

Note I wanted to also personally add that The Notorious Juan Gotti dog that the Gotti Line dogs are named after really came from an A.K.C Registered American Staffordshire Terrier named AKC UKC GR CH ESTRELLA'S BLACK BEAR and some unpapered dogs. People are furious that he is registered when he is A.K.C lines and unregistered dogs. How can you get papers for a dog that clearly has UNREGISTERED DOGS in its pedigree?

Go to the pound and find you puppy you like...then raise it to behave as you want it to...
I know, here in Denver, you can always find a good dog at the pound...and, in return, it will get a loving home...
