first serious grow, trying to keep it organic

hello everyone i am new to the site but have checked it out multiple times for advice my friend is also a member on here and i liked the eagerness everyone showed when he needed help in his grows. so i little background for this grow is that i just wanted to start them inside probably and then transplant them to an outdoor area but im trying to keep it as organic as possible and just looking for advice for my seedling soil mix i picked up FoxFarm peace of mind fertilizer (3-4-3) thats supposed to promote healthy root growth i also picked up a bag of garden lime for when its needed as well as marine cuisine (10-7-7) for the future too and some high phosphorous bat guano for when she starts flowering but any advice is welcome here i need to know how to mix my soils when to change them and when to start certain feeding schedule's

see im not sure what soils best its just miracle grow potting soil, and i just mixed a little of the foxfarm i didnt measure out any gallons to table spoons or anything cause i just mixed a bag full

First of all I will recommend you use moonshine Mix It's really easy and simple for beginners. Here's the link https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=23970, this is the easiest mix and a really good one too. Just mix a whole of each when using moonshine mix, and Good Luck, keeps us update it.

Well after I went down to my local shop and they had the light warrior and they ocean forest, but not the Planting Mix or black gold, however there was a soil there happy frog potting soil which is foxfarm but i wasnt sure.. any suggestions?

i wouldnt use miracle grow anything

for years, mg is the antithesis of organic

now, they "say" they are? -either way, fuck that co they are ruining the earth

i would buy a bag of peat and a bag of perlite and a bag of earthworm castings - mix 'em 2pts peat and 1pt ea of the others

apply some dolomite lime @ 1 TBs/gal of soil mix and give it some thorough mixing

garden centers and hardware stores have everything you need

you can use the amendments you mentioned w/ this mix (it's potting soil / pro mix / container mix)

then you know you dont have any "pre-ferts" or watering agents or funky stuff in your mix

also i hate to sound like i have no idea what im doing here, but when you say 2pts what exactly do you mean? i understood the 1 tablespoon/ gallon for the lime but just didnt get that thanks again!

2 parts

For example 2 gallons peat, 1 gallon perlite and 1 gallon earthworm castings, 4 TBs dolomite lime. Mix it all up. It will need some time for the lime to stabilize the PH.

If you need only a small amount to get some seedlings started, you could grab a bag of plain pro-mix. It has no ferts added and great for seedlings. Fox Farm Ocean Forest is a bit too strong for seedling IMO. They will probably survive but from what I have seen they get scorched and stunted for awhile. Good luck!

thank you i figured thats what i meant but doesnt hurt to ask, and idk if they got any pro-mix in the stores around here its been a real pain in the ass finding somethings

heres an easy way to make that mixture, people find it a little confusing when you say 1tbs per gallon of dolomite.
use a 3 qt saucepan as parts.
6 parts canadian sphagnum peat, or pro mix bx, or hp (its easy to find these)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
then just throw in 1 cup of POWDERED dolomite lime.
mix it VERY WELL.
with this soilless mixture you want it to sit after you mix it for a good two weeks at least.
i use this mix and love it. give it a try. hope that helps

wellll heres how the final mix is going to go (i think) after looking up info about happy frog i read that it was good for container plants, which mine will be in 5gal buckets so i figred id grab it, so please tell me how to revise this if it doesnt look right to you THANKS!

1 bag of Ocean Forest
1 bag of Light Warrior
1 bag of Happy Frog potting soil
about 4 gals of perlite
1 cup of peace of mind flowering mix..

the bags i used were also the smaller ones idk if thats the same size bags they use in the moonshine mix thats why i asked the bags are only about 2feet tall or so

Well then i guess you could say neighbor because im about an hour away myself, i also meant to ask in my last post how much lime i should be adding to the whole mix i plan on mixing it all tonight so a speedy answer would be much appreciated!!

The lime would have been really important if you were adding plain peat. FFOF has always been solid for me in terms of PH, but I don't have experience with the LW or HF. You probably don't need to add any lime.

yeah i didnt think i would need to add it if i was using that but i just wanted to double check, does that mean i dont have to wait for the soil to balance out or anything it will just be good to go?
