$4 Adjustable Light Hangers

C

Carl Carlson

Hope they work better for you than they do most people.

They make good supports for top heavy buds.

i hate those fuckin things and had a great time crushing a pair under my boot a couple of weeks ago - just stomped the shit out of them after they annoyed me for the last time.

That looks dangerous. Over time, the weight of the reflector has an effect on whatever is holding it.

One night, I had my 250w MH with the ballast built in(very heavy on on side), held up by those adjustable yo-yo's...the rope on it snapped and the light fell on my plants. I was so lucky I was home, If I had been out there would have been a major problem.

So....with that being said. I use chains now...and when I go out..or away for a night...I don't worry about my lights falling on top of my plants and starting a major house fire. The peace of mind, is worth the aggravation of having to manually adjust the height when needed.

In fact, Peace of mind will always be THE major parameter of how my stuff is set up.

Just wanted to say that this curtain has been holding my light for nearly eight months now. I dropped the hood and went vertical with just the lamp so there's hardly any weight on it now and it's an absolute godsend in the greenhouse. So easy to re-adjust and move around the greenroom. I still highly recommend this for ghetto grows but again I would take weight into consideration and do this at your own risk.

Gotta agree with this post... Super clever no doubt, but I couldn't have peace of mind that way.

Think about how just loosening the slack on the adjustment string makes the blinds come flying down... Over time, holding that much weight, the mechanism that remains in place when taut would likely come loose.

Then as Admiral Canna mentioned, the light will crush your plants, and yeah, potentially start a fire.

They do sell a unit like this for plants, but it is heavy duty and still only designed to hold up a rack of fluorescent bulbs.

exactly, I couldn't sleep with a bulb hanging from that. I use white chain form Home depot, the chain isn't failing! Plus, the white reflective paint on the chain has increased my yields tremendously!!! jk Seriously spend the $15 dollars and get a couple iolets and some chain for safety. I appreciate the creativity in this, but I wouldn't promote this idea as a good one for new growers to come in and start hanging plants in this fashion.
