Hi sandman

I check the temps in the shadow right above the lamps, so not in direct light cause then its much higher. But 96 degress sounds a bit hot? Do you have a picture of your setup?

nah no pics as of yet but ill try and barrow a cam tomarrow. my cab is 1'x1'x4' have 2 80mm exhuast fans at top, passive intake threw lower back of cab and below. 5 26w cfls and a small fan from a laptop blowing the heat up to exhuast from down by the pots.. will do my best to get some pics up very soon.

i put a thermometer right below the canopy to get an ambient air temp. but i also use a mini temp gun to take readings right off of the tops, and anywhere else i think i need to measure.
im telling you man i love that tool and i wouldnt trade it for anything!
i HIGHLY suggest getting one. it makes things a lot easier to dial in.

I check both, I'm a control freak when it comes to my rooms though so any and all details are not overlooked.

Maintaining 80's right at the lights just ain't gonna happen. Most of us micro guys either have a very tolerant strain, or they suffer burn when the canopy gets too close. The temp gun is nice, but I've never seen one that measures air temperature. You can get the canopys temperature, the walls temperature or the lights temperature, but they need a surface to get a reading thats acurate.

tru u cant get the air temp but u can tell how hot everything else is getting with the temp guns
