Hey all. 1st timer here, have been reading nonstop, thought i'd take an old pc case and try my hand. If anyone would like to share their experience, info, criticisms with me on this grow feel free..thanks for dropping in.

Going 12/12 from seed

My pc box:

Dim -L 19.25" x W 7.75" x H 17.00"
2 x 80mm fans -1 cell adapter
3 x Lamp Sockets Mounted
3 x 26w warm(2700k) CFLs

All Plants bag seed, one huge experiment for me. Started seedlings with distilled water, now have moved to tap, letting sit for 24 hours minimum with air pump and 4" bubbler in 1 gal jug.

Started this venture 3-28, I didn't mark containers until a couple nights go but 2 cups have only vermiculite, perlite, and peat moss. other cups have miracle grow for orchids, lol..only water so far.

Pics as of last night. Installed ziplock container (thanks Mr. Micro). Took 3 pack of aquarium carbon cartidges, poured into one pouch and shoved in container.. feint smell removed so far. may need more carbon for tighter fit..

Day 24

last feeding gave nutes to all. my math is shaky so i took a half gal. of water and split nutes in half thinking 50%, thats still a full dose? umm yeh i was :joint: as i am while typing.. either way i think they liked it.

01-05
#3 grew into light over the past night w/ small burn spot on leaf.
im guessing #2 is male so i pulled from cab.

01-05..

removed lower fan and sealed opening. multiple leaves got the tips chopped off. it is at the bottom now.

Day 33

vertical growth ran most into light, fan leaves took some damage. wasn't sure of my options so i grabbed for the twill. all have adjusted well within 24 hours.

learning so much from here has been great. i came across an aquarium stand roughly w23" x h23" x d11", gathering ideas, imagining greater possibilities. peace.

Strangely Yes, that would be the male. fastest growing plant of the bunch. its night and day difference as i was concerned with identifying sex..not anymore. :)

darwinsbulldog seems like the stretch has slowed quite a bit on the three tied over, if not I will continue to bend them. Each grew to the lights at different times and actually broke the stem on my first attempt bending too low on the stalk where it was more rigid. may be able to see in 2nd pic - day 33.

thanks for stopping in. :joint:

Looking good. Around day 21 you should have tied them down so when the stretch kick in they would have stay a little shorter. Its all a learning experience good luck with the grow

Fuzz Thanks. Jotted that info down! have 2 seeds germing, i remember reading about wire clothes hangar, may try that.

BC thanks. just came out of your pc grow and am highly inspired by the side lighting. im already itching to add some more light, maybe a third fan.

Breezy Thanks. I'm really having fun with this grow as with anything i guess, but anywho. one side with a $6 windshield relector, other side couple strips of aluminum/metal tape.

I hear some growers pinch a stem before bending to help stop them snapping. Not 100% on that though? I think that's what they meant.

pinching the tops/ chopping them off sends the growth hormones to secondary branches, causing your plant to bush out more, and not focus on growing straight up.
great looking first grow, your girls look happy:dance013:

yes, pinching helps stop virtical growth, as well as making the inner membrane of the stem more bendable, its a great idea if your going to bend it 90 degrees or greater.

when pinching, you will want too squeez slowly untill you feel the stem crush under your fingers, you may even here a slight "snap" sound, thats okay.

topping is a completely different matter, where you cut the top of the plant, and it for some reason, im unsure of, tells the plant too grow two main colas where you have cut the top of, instead of one.

a combination of both of these as well as a little LST is called super cropping, maximizing yeild, while minimizing hight.

i hope this helps some, your plants are looking very good for your pc, wish my plants were that tall!

christoph.
