I would wait for better ones when more 3d stuff comes out. remember how crappy high def tvs where when they came out and nothing was in hd. When more 3d stuff comes out I will get one maybe 2-3 years.

do you think they will improve it enough to wait,,,,,i have allready thought about the 2nd generation, but i cant see how they will improve on standard active shutter glasses,,its very old tech,,,,,the only problem was the refresh rate,,,,the only thing i can think of that they might improve on is 2d to 3d convertion

There will be options, or maybe already are that don't require glasses. The effect isn't as good as with the glasses (yet?) but I'd rather not wear glasses.

I'd wait, you know damn well in 1 or 2 years prices will be 1/4 of what they are now and you'll get more for your money by waiting.

I always wait once some new technology comes out so they can work out any bugs and lower the price a bit.

Only materialistic tools are buying 3D right now. The fact you have to spend $200+ more for glasses, the TV just can't do it and they don't come with the glasses, is the biggest rip off in electronics history, more so than cables.

Virtually no programming. Only one thing has been actually shot for 3D, Avatar, everything else just shitty CGI conversion.

Some of you are wrong a lot of the tvs come with a two glasses already so unless you have a big family you'll only have to purchase 2 more at the most.

There isn't much of a price premium for 3d vs. 2d TVs, the only thing I would worry about is that there still isn't an industry wide standard.

I don't remember them being crappy at all, I do remember them being ridiculously expensive (15K plus), and the standards have changed quite a bit since the original (component input -> dvi -> dvi + HDCP -> HDMI (various versions, 1.4 is the newest & includes 3d support)

The cost issue is nowhere near as bad as it was for the initial launch of HD, but due to the lack of content and the evolving standards I would wait unless I were already in the market for a high end TV in which case I would probably go ahead and get a 3d Samsung w/ the active shutter glasses.

Screw that, I'm waiting for holograms :p

when they start making holograms that are solid that would be the end of the human race. Why go out hoggin when you could turn a machine on and have a perfect 10? You would have to hose it out every now and then. Imagine how sticky the floor of the holodeck was on the enterprise if it was real.

I thought they looked great when hd came out but compared to just 3-5 years in the windowscreen look went away along with the better chipsets that made way less blur I would say they improved greatly in less then 5 years from the first production models. If that is the case with the 3d stuff i would wait 3-5 as long as the hdvideonerd.forums say so. Gotta love the nerds.
